Hampton Inn Charlotte/Matthews is a hotel that offers basic accommodations with friendly and professional staff. Many reviewers highlight the outstanding service of the staff, especially the manager, who often goes beyond expectations. However, the property itself appears tired and in need of maintenance and updates. Several guests mention that the facilities are worn, with issues like outdated bathrooms, cracked tiles, and peeling ceilings. Some rooms have problems such as non-working air conditioning, clogged toilets, and uncomfortable beds and pillows. Maintenance seems to be a low priority, as issues like broken ice machines, out-of-place walls, and signs of wear and tear are common. The hotel has experienced some problems with cleanliness and pests, including ants in breakfast areas, but others report no bugs or unpleasant smells. The breakfast offered is average, with watered-down juice and limited options. Service at check-in can be inconsistent; some staff members are rude and seem bothered, while others are kind and helpful. The pool is open after being closed temporarily, which is appreciated by guests. Overall, while the hotel has potential due to its friendly staff and good location, its tired facilities and maintenance issues prevent it from being a top choice for travelers seeking more comfort and upkeep.
Was here in business. Best check in and overall experience I've had in a long time.

There were bits of ceiling paint spread throughout the room and it looked like a vacuum hadn’t been used in weeks. Hilton should be ashamed that there are hotels like this under their brand. This place is disgusting. Had to change rooms because A/C wouldn’t turn on and the room was clearly not vacuumed. The second room isn’t any better. No plans on returning.
