“It's not very often that I get to go shopping in a store that's been opening it's doors continuously for 124 years, especially one that looks pretty much the same as it did in 1899 or as it did when was relocated in 1913 which was owned and operated by the same family until 2010. There was a short time that the store was closed in 2010 after the passing of the last remaining original family proprietor until the present owners reopened the doors in 2011 but that's like splitting hairs. Believe it or not they still carries staples like bread, butter and milk, but also other essential items for mountain life like local vegetables, jams, and honey to rakes, paint, plumbing and things that many people have never seen. The old original scales and carts can still be found scattered around the store amongst so many other things from the past that would be nearly impossible to find these days even if you have an Amazon Prime account. Although there has been some technology installed, the old cash register from 1913 still sits close by and is still operational if there is ever a need. So while Pace General still has thousands of traditional and contemporary items for sale, it's also a museum of mountain memories and memorabilia that will carry on this family legacy. If you really want a history lesson on the area spend a few hours here then drive around the area and see what living history looks like...”

“Matt, the manager at Tractor Supply, in Columbus, NC is truly remarkable and I applaud him as well as the entire staff working there. Because of managers like Matt and the T&S team, of equal note, I’ll add, whenever I shop there, firstly, all employees are so affable, I’m always welcomed upon entering, quickly followed by, “Can I help you with anything?” As often is the case, I’m in need of assistance. I am in the end stages of a debilitating terminal illness that worsens in heat & the insufferable insidious symptoms only magnify, if that even seems possible.On a recent trip to T&S, I, in visible physical pain, & grieving a very recent, profound, unexpected, devastating death, it’s this trip that so moved me to write this review.I attribute Matt’s overall empathy & compassion, to relegate quickly, my return, locate additional items needed, escort me to a prompt checkout, & accompany me to my car to unload my purchases. For all of the expert professionalism I consistently encounter at T&S, what I value most, was the genuine courtesy & humane kindnesses that Matt & all employees demonstrate, particularly on one of my more difficult days overall.I am so very grateful to you, Matt, & as mentioned to all who work at T&S, this is why I return to T&S again & again. This was not an easy day for me to get through, having to run a dreaded errand, being so physically & emotionally ill-equipped.With my sincere appreciation for all u did for me, bravo & brava to Matt & all T&S employees. “This is how hardware stores used to be. You want to buy one of something, fine. They also have some of the odd supplies and materials needed in maintaining older homes that you will not find at the big box stores. Their staff is also most helpful and I think they know everything about hardware, plumbing, pumps, power tools and more. Plus they can make custom glass and screens, or repair the ones you might need. I still use a pair of custom aluminum framed windows to fit in my odd dimensioned awning style windows in the winter for added insulation. I think it is also the only place around here to find the unique hardware items used in mobile homes”

“First, Im retired military and I want to say thank you to Carolina Ace Hardware for their military discount. I want to acknowledge your employee Robert. I simply came in today in need of a large box to ship two chairs. Robert greeted me kindly and I explained what i needed but i didn’t want to take him away from his duties. He stated helping me was his duty. He spent time to locate a large box of an unassembled grill and marked it on hold for me to pick up later in the week. Genuine care and service like this is why I will always be an Ace customer.”

“I go here a few times a year to have my CO2 tank filled. Staff is never able to confirm the grade of gas they are putting in my tank. I use this gas to carbonate beverages. Claiming all CO2 is the same is incorrect.”

“I've Used king rental twice. Once to rent a hammer drill and once to rent a track loader. Both times pick up was quick and the equipment worked perfectly. They are conveniently located in downtown Hendersonville. It's so nice to be able to rent expensive tools that I don't use enough to buy for myself.”

The simple task of making a key was complicated by the glued-on cover and it required two employees using snips, pliers, a knife and possibly some special incantations to remove the cover and expose the key to be copied. Richard was friendly, helpful, and thorough in his valiant and successful effort to cut me 3 shiny new keys that all work on my house. Thank you for your perseverance, Richard and Home Depot.”
