What sets Kaiju apart starts with the programming. Brian (BY) customizes the workouts himself, and it's next level — far better than competitive gyms that just buy their programming online. The workouts are genuinely challenging, change every single day, and offer incredible variety, so you never get bored or stale.
The coaching is excellent. They provide clear direction and hands-on training while recognizing that everyone is at a different point in their CrossFit journey. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or just learning the basics, they scale the workouts so every member can succeed.
Most importantly, Kaiju has a tremendous culture. I've made so many friends here, and that community is the heart of the gym. “I’ve been going to Burn Boot Camp for about three weeks, and every workout still makes my jaw drop. When they explain the workout, I’m convinced there’s no way my body can lift that much weight or work that hard. And yet, by the end of the 45 minutes, I’m always surprised by how much I’m able to do.
The trainers are incredibly supportive while still pushing you harder than you think you can go. You’re surrounded by women (and a lot of men) who give it their all, and it’s genuinely inspiring to watch and be part of. The franchise has invested in a lot of technology over the last few years to upgrade the studio with sound, screens etc. The moves are a combo of HIIT and kickboxing. They provide gloves if you don't have any. My workout stats were comparable to a workout at F45 or OTF. Would definitely go again!”
“I have coached at many CrossFit gyms in the last decade here in the Charlotte area and while none of them are perfect, there are some that surpass the rest. Many CrossFit gyms will offer good programming, a good space, and good equipment, but many do not offer that feeling of “home.”
I loved my first CrossFit gym I started at, but since then I have popped around and haven’t found a gym that really felt like home since. My first gym was full of a group of people that just felt like “your people.” Although I have only been coaching here for a few months, I’m starting to get the feeling that I might just find that place again. (So, fingers crossed for me & you!)
So far, the community has proved to be nothing but close knit where everyone really shows up to push each other to succeed and the programming has proved to be designed with care and a high standard in mind.”

“As other reviews said, its small but gets the job done. Not cutting edge modern but not dusty and old. I get the vibe that many members who come here are from one of the bigger ymca locations that get ridiculously busy *cough*DOWD*cough* and just need to fit in the workout on the way back home from work. I rarely have to wait on any piece of equipment, and if I do it's not a long wait. Haven't interacted with the staff much but they've been personable on the few times i have. Only cons I can think of are the lack of specialty equipment like a deadlifting platform, but you can't really fault them on that due to the structure of the building itself (the free weight selection is far higher than somewhere like planet). For what it is as an accessory to a larger ymca location, I'd give it a 5/5. Super convenient and efficient workout.”
