Grocery Stores in Port Hawkesbury, NS

“My main grocery store so far is the Atlantic Superstore, but they have stopped stocking some items that I want, like McCAIN egg rolls, KRAFT Deluxe Dinners, and KRAFT Extra Cheddar Cheese slices.

The butcher-cut meat at Sobeys is far and away, better than I can get at the Superstore, so I have always gone to Sobeys for that. The butcher is amazing, and he will cut whatever you want. I am fond of the Grade AAA rib cap-off steaks when I have the money and guests coming. He is so courteous, professional, and accommodating.

They have fresher produce, particularly bananas, and better peanuts than I can purchase at their competitor. I also like their prepared chicken strips, and pick up a box every month or so.

The staff are very friendly. I would like to single out Mary at checkout, who always has a smile on her face, and welcomes everyone.

I would love to give this store five stars, but the Express Cash line is too often populated by customers who can't count! The limit is 15 items, but I have waited endlessly while those ignorant people, who evidently can't read or count, are served ahead of me.

I wish Sobeys had self-checkout kiosks, but then those kind of people would probably plug them up as well, and their space is limited.

I note from reading other Google reviews of this Sobeys store that management is disinclined to respond to reviews, positive or negative. That is not a commendable approach. Sobeys should be listening to its customers, and reaching out.

Sobeys has a great selection of products, though they have stopped stocking Swiss Knight cheese that I really like, when I can afford it. Their competitor does stock it, so while I might, over time, migrate to Sobeys as my primary grocery store, I will still have to go to their major competitor for that.

I think overall that Sobeys is a welcome option in Port Hawkesbury. I would recommend it to those who haven't been there to see for yourself.”

“I would highly recommend people to check out the running man. The only Costco is in Halifax so the Running Man had everything I needed and more. I will definitely be going back and tell all my friends.”

“The store itself was clean, and well laid out, and the staff was friendly. The floors were very clean and shiny.

However; there was a staff member with her jeans half way down while walking ahead of me, with more than half her butt showing. If I had to measure, about 3.5 inches of butt Crack was showing when standing.

The toilet seat in the bathroom was up and it had plenty of urine stains on the underside.
I can't believe nobody on staff/management approached her to pull up her pants!”
