“Coles is a cute bookstore where I could easily spend hours just walking around and browsing. The only downside is that it can get a bit noisy since it’s inside the mall, but it’s still a lovely spot for book lovers.”

“I come here almost every day for three years because I live right next to marketplace and it’s such a nice study spot especially since it’s joined with equator. Ever since I was a high schooler and still during university. Indigo has been a sanctuary for me especially since I’m extremely passionate about books and writing!

The staff are very nice and friendly, though can be a little condescending sometimes. But I never had any negative experiences and they’re very welcoming ☺️??”

“A cool store with maps, flags, travel books (like Lonely Planet), etc. I felt that flag prices were a bit expensive (given that one can get the same things for <$5 on Temu). I wonder if a lot of their business comes from embassies that need flags and pins...”

“I try to buy books locally whenever possible. In searching for a particular book I have visited many used book stores over the past month and at each store when they check and don't have the book I want, they refer me to several other local book stores. Singing Squirrel is no exception! All the stores have been pleasant. Truly a book buyer's Nirvana!”

“Thina, Ariane, and also a male staff member, were exceptionally helpful in searching out Astrix volumes that my grandson had not read when I was ill and unable to do this leg work. I am very grateful for their diligence in making this special gift happen and to them for getting the books into the mail in time for his birthday. Merci!”

“Great selection of French books of many different genres. Loyalty card gives points to get $28 off if you buy enough books, which I did. :-) Good parking. My 9 yr old son found the obscure One Piece Manga (anime) books in French in stock and was happy. Lots of books in stock for my Gr 2/3 French Immersion class. Friendly staff. Very organized compared to another bookstore I visited. Merci!”

“It is no longer called this and no longer sells newspapers or magazines. I told the person behind the counter they needed to change it on Google Maps as I'd gone out of my way to buy what it said they sold ?‍♂️”

“5 stars — A meaningful return after more than 10 years

This Chapters location has always been one of my favourites in Ottawa. I have so many warm memories here from years ago — weekend visits with my family, browsing interesting books, and watching my son enjoy the Thomas train table. It was a place where we slowed down and shared simple, happy moments.

Tonight I revisited this store for the first time in over 10 years, and it felt truly special. Walking through the aisles brought back all those memories, and I realized how much this place has been part of our family life. The store is still spacious, calm, and inviting, with that comforting atmosphere I remember so well.

I also appreciate that this location stays open until 9:00 p.m., which is rare in Ottawa for a bookstore. It makes evening visits possible and adds to the peaceful experience.

A wonderful place to pause, browse, and reconnect with memories that stay with you.”

“This is a great bookstore and gift shop, just make sure you confirm the hours before you head down. Candles, books, pendants, crucifixes, statutes - even some rosaries and scapulars. There's also a small kids section.Make sure you do what you can to support this store to support St. Pat's and ensure the bookstore can continue to operate in the future.”

“I was pretty flustered because of a misunderstanding regarding different editions of the same book. Staff took the time to explain everything to me and helped me find what I needed for a course. They are knowledgeable and professional, and I'm happy to continue getting my university books there.”

“doesn't feel like any ordinary bookstore, instead feels like you've stumbled into someone's cozy warm library with books stacked from top to bottom of walls and in multiples piles around the floor - absolutely lovely”

“Love the ambience and quiet, slow atmosphere being surrounded by all these historic books. It's really almost like time-travel. I'm a bit sad that they didn't have the hard-to-find books I've been searching for but I do like the friendliness of the staff and the overall feel of the place! Parking's also not unreasonably priced!”

“This is a place where you can find Bibles in French particularly at a good price.
There are still other informative and entertaining books to fill your mind.”

4.2 Good86 Reviews

“Store is organized and clean. Customer Service was helpful and quick. Only wish they had some options for help with paying for textbooks whether a payment plan, or discounts for eligible incomes”

4.1 Good74 Reviews

“A neat store, great staff, only problem is everything is pricey. Even the books professors choose are pricey, this is while there are better textbooks and free resources. They could provide custom resources printed, but they aren't doing it. Probably because of the commissions, and honestly it's only runs up student's money. While AI is flourishing and are better at explaining things in a language level and fluidity one wants without any ill intentions, I don't really see the need of these pillow sized textbooks. Maybe professors can use them as resources to build custom-printed, copyright-free textbooks for a 10-12 week classes. While holding onto the insight that students are not just taking one course per semester, and by being a bit considerate about the course load a student generally takes during a semester. Accept innovation and integrate it into learning.”
