“I'm so glad it's moving to a bigger location, it was so lovely and my only complaint was that it was too packed! It was full of people (yay!!!!) and honestly it was worth it. Good selection of gifts and book adjacent items like bookmarks, notebooks, puzzles. I really like how they highlight local authors or new picks they think people would like. The little notes made exploring the store fun. Very queer positive and dog friendly! Can't wait to go back.”

“I came here today for the bookstore crawl and while I didn’t get to take a look around as long as I wish I could’ve (it was quite crowded due to the crawl, which is NOT a complaint I LOVE to see indie bookstores popping) I truly loved the vibe of this store not only was there a lot of books but I loved the stickers (I fell in serious love with some cat stickers by the register) stationery, and crystals that were there as well. I will definitely return so I can take a deeper look!!”

She was completely accepting and respectful of my choices around discontinuing breastfeeding and pumping and focused on helping my baby be a safe and effective feeder in the way that works for her. After some pretty negative and dehumanizing interactions with other LCs, it feels like Brit actually saw me and my baby as people and cared about our goals, not just about breastfeeding at any cost and that went such a long way towards supporting my mental health and my bond with my baby around feeding.”

Charlene immediately refunded my order and sent a replacement free of charge. I had actually scoured the internet looking for cute cherry tissue paper because I'm doing a cherry-themed baby shower, and I was so excited to find exactly what I was looking for from The Gifted Type 😊. When the original package eventually showed up, I reached out because I wanted to pay for the extra items. Not only were they incredibly kind about it, they told me not to worry and just help spread the word about their business. The tissue paper was beautiful, the handwritten note in my package was such a thoughtful touch, and every interaction I had with them was wonderful. You can tell they genuinely care about their customers. If I lived in Ottawa, I'd be there all the time! I'll definitely be ordering from them again and recommending them to friends and family 🩷🍒”

There's a small collection of English books and planners but their focus is French books and they have a great collection of French learning materials. The puzzles selection is pretty good, with the Ravensburger and gallison puzzles complemented by some great Laurence King, Heye, Villager and wasgij titles. I loved browsing around and finding new treasures.”

“The campus store was easy to find and well furnished, from school and lab supplies to Carleton merch, clothes, snacks and even small accessories and dorm decorations. And there is staff walking around to make sure you're doing alright, you can ask them questions. Though it really depends on the time, because at peak hours they are available, but at non-peak hours they make less rounds. And they are very knowledgeable about the stock and incoming stock. The staff is very easy going, friendly and make small talk during the exchange which I liked.”

“A neat store, great staff, only problem is everything is pricey. Even the books professors choose are pricey, this is while there are better textbooks and free resources. They could provide custom resources printed, but they aren't doing it. Probably because of the commissions, and honestly it's only runs up student's money. While AI is flourishing and are better at explaining things in a language level and fluidity one wants without any ill intentions, I don't really see the need of these pillow sized textbooks. Maybe professors can use them as resources to build custom-printed, copyright-free textbooks for a 10-12 week classes. While holding onto the insight that students are not just taking one course per semester, and by being a bit considerate about the course load a student generally takes during a semester. Accept innovation and integrate it into learning.”
