25960 Southeast Eagle Creek Road, Eagle CreekWe stopped at Eagle Creek Saloon and ordered the Reuben, and I’m now convinced someone in that kitchen has made a legally binding commitment to corned beef.
This was easily one of the best Reuben sandwiches I’ve had anywhere in Oregon. The corned beef was piled high, tender, and full of flavor, the sauerkraut had just the right amount of tang, and everything came together without turning into the soggy structural failure that claims so many lesser Reubens.
I’ve eaten enough Reubens over the years to have opinions that nobody asked for, and this one immediately moved into the upper echelon. It’s the kind of sandwich where you take the first bite, stop talking, look across the table, and quietly reconsider every Reuben you’ve praised in the past.
Eagle Creek Saloon, you’ve set the bar dangerously high. I came in hungry and left wondering how far is too far to drive for a sandwich.

Bruno is exactly that. At just 10 weeks old, you can already watch him methodically figuring things out. He’ll fetch as far as I can throw and track down the ball even when he doesn’t see where it lands. But more than anything, he just wants to be everyone’s best friend.
