“Every so often you find a business that exceeds your expectations. That was my experience this week at Cookes brake service on Southeast Belmont and 46th. Our 2001 Ford F-150 pickup was making disturbing metal on metal sounds from the front brakes. I rang the company and Dan said bring it on in. I had to ask now on a Friday you have an opening! That was what a great business impression number one. Dan informed me would be about an hour for them to troubleshoot the problem. 30 minutes later Dan rang with the diagnosis front pads worn to the warning bars thus the grinding tone. And the discs had already been turned once and if they turned them again would go below spec. Price to repack the bearings, bleed and recharge the brake fluid, New discs new pads was a reasonable cost and it would be done by 2:30 a few hours later. Pat rang at 2:30, work completed! I encourage you to give Cookes a try Great service great and honest assessment at a competitive price.”
“A mechanic friend recommended that we try Marsh Transmission in Tualatin. (We live in Central Oregon).
We had it towed to them and within a short time of looking at our car, they diagnosed the problem. It was a cracked transfer case. Paul sent us a video of the damage. The dealership in Central Oregon has always serviced our AWD vehicle and they were the last to service my transmission. He sent them the video and and worked with the Service Manager to let them know the issue. I wish Marsh could have fixed our issue, however, due to the dealership's insurance rules, it has to be towed back to Central Oregon for repair.
Paul did not charge us for the diagnosis and is working with the
Central Oregon dealership to have the car towed back here.
I now know why our mechanic friend highley recommend Marsh Tranmission to us. He has used them for years and feels they are the best in the valley.

“My car suddenly lost power and felt like the power steering went out. Looked under the hood and saw my serpentine belts were completely shredded. It was 3pm on a Friday. I did not think I would be able to get in anywhere, and that I was going to leave my car parked over the weekend away from my house.
Not only did they get me in immediately to start the repair, they also identified what the root cause was instantly. I dropped off my car, came back an hour later, and it was ready for me to pick up. The price to fix the root of the problem and replacing the belts was great. It truly was an amazing experience, and I plan on coming back for all my car needs.”

“Update: November 2025! I'm still going to Sherwood Auto Repair and if I can help it I will never take my vehicles anywhere else. Not only are they amazing at communicating on my level, Katie and Alden helped me understand that my partner's car needed a muffler mount replaced and that it made more sense to have it go to a specialty shop because it would be more cost effective! I am so impressed that I will continue to drive from Gresham to make sure that my cars are serviced right. Fours cars over the years and no one but Sherwood Auto Repair will be touching them unless they tell me to go to a specialty shop!
I've been bringing my cars to Sherwood Auto Repair for the last four years. I love their model. The very first day I brought the family mini-van in they asked me what my goals were for my vehicle. “A friend of mine broke down on the freeway in their diesel pusher Motorhome. We called S&T, they explained how to limp it into the shop and save a big tow bill. When we got there they immediately started diagnosing and locating parts. This was at 3:00 in the afternoon. One part was not available in the area so they next day aired it in. By noon the next day they were back on the road. Based on previous repairs at other shops and it being an a breakdown they expected a pretty substantial bill. The final bill was half of what they expected. Everyone in this shop went over and above getting these people back on the road and did not take advantage of them being broke down out of town. Absolutely outstanding work from this shop and Russell and his team! Took my new Denali in to get looked at. While I was there, he added a performance muffler - I’m very particular about sound so he spent time showing me different mufflers and how they sounded before putting it on. He was patient, kind and his prices were great!
