“Today I brought a friend who has physical challenges to shop at this store. Both of us were truly grateful for the assistance of "Kathy" who was helpful, compassionate and understanding.”
“I first visited Village Merchants ten years ago to get some “grown up” outerwear when I first moved to Portland. I was a young professional working downtown and wanted to look sharp. The first trench coat I even owned was from here, and it was $12.
Happy to report unlike a lot of places, prices here have remained reasonable. So many great finds for your home and wardrobe and the music is always great. I’ll always recommend Village Merchants.”
“Amazing place to shop. Staff are so kind, the prices you can't beat anywhere in pdx. I'm a single mother of two boys and I came in one day and didn't have enough money and the guy gave me a giant discount and said it's a hard job I'm doing and everyone deserves a break.”
“Frequent shopper, friendly staff willing to help with bulky items. Also good Entertainment, it is a rare day you can't spot some intriguing item you have never seen before and ponder its purpose.”
“Feel like you’ve stepped back in time. The nostalgia is consuming. Suddenly you have an overwhelming desire to retrofit your entire home-Wait, actually move into a new home which is reminiscent of The Brady Bunch-or possibly a cool apartment like in Mary Tyler Moore and go all out with new-old-decor. It’s that good. Go, enjoy the experience-and remember to chat with the staff, they are an incredibly friendly bunch.”

“This is the cleanest and brightest resale store. 90% of items are under $10 most are $3-8 pants shirts costa and all sized to type of item. Shorts in one or two racks, sweatshirts coats pants kids sizes all together onlyva few coats top of the line Eddie Bauer. Columbia $12-15. These are great deals and becausebit is so organized you can shop and be in and out quickly with 4 cashiers. 5 stars.”
“So many great finds and even better prices and people! Thanks to the kind person who helped me take apart the table I bought and load it into my car! Will definitely be back.”
“I’m in Portland visiting and I came across this thrift store. They carry mostly clothing and a few kitchen and household items. I was able to pick up some decorative items and a hand made coffee mug and a pottery. Will come back again.?”
“Love love LOVE this place! They have so many different things they offer, from furniture, clothing, knickknacks, toys and more! I highly recommend checking them out! Prices are very reasonable!”
“Lots of great kitchen items and glass. TONS of clothing at very reasonable prices. This is a massive store with lots of stall. There is a stall that is solely dedicated to guitars and another to legos, plenty of jewelry, art, and more. Two stories and you could spend all day on here. They always have season appropriate holiday decor and items at all price points. Parking is right out front with plenty of spaces.”

“Beautiful shop with amazing people who were happy to help us find our long-sought antique standing ashtray. Well, two ashtrays actually... since we couldn't choose between them ?”

“Update: I like to donate to PACS store because they have a food pantry and (I think) a free clinic. I donate only good, usable clean items. But they keep setting their prices higher and higher. This is very disappointing.
(Old post): I've shopped here for years and watched the structural changes take place.
But since the change I've noticed that the prices are going up and up. I'm not the only one making this comment either. I'm the kind of peson who can strike up conversations easily (and usually do) and I hear people saying the same thing. This is so unfortunate and wonder why this is happening?
Goodwill Industries is a joke when it comes to finding a deal and I hope that PAC doesn't follow in it's shoes!
I bought a steel reinforced couch that was almost NEW for $10 here at PAC's and it was such a blessing to us who desperately needed a couch...please check on who determines prices and make sure they are doing their job correctly!
I've even seen things from the Dollar Tree for $2 or more here!”
“My new favorite store that I wish was open on Sundays! I found the best pieces here for really great prices. For some reason I always have the urge to go on Sundays but they’re closed and I make myself sad every week haha”
“A worker there named Craig is an amazing human. I support someone with disabilities who struggles sometimes going out in the community. When we visit UGM thrift store Craig greets us by name and makes our experience meaningful. Highly recommend the kitchen supplies section of the store. Also huge selection of jeans styles and sizes. I’ve found Hudson Jean and Prana.”
“This is the place for any home improvement project! Paint and supplies, appliances, tools, and furniture. Everything was extremely organized and reasonably priced. Lots of lighting options too!”
“Went here with my boyfriend for the first time a while ago, and I still think about how special this place felt. The moment you walk in, there's this electric energy -- plants everywhere, unique thrift finds, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to stay and explore every corner. I remember telling him, "It would be so fun to work here one day," because it just radiates creativity, warmth, and good vibes. The staff were kind, the layout was beautiful, and it's one of those rare shops that instantly feels like home. If you love plants, vintage treasures, and places that spark a little inspiration, Alchemy is absolutely worth the visit.”
“Neat store, huge selection, friendly knowledgeable staff. It's too bad about it's location though. Lots of tents, smell of pee, crazy man in middle of street yelling. I work downtown so I'm a bit desensitized to it but I could only imagine what some may think.”
“Great spot to recycle old electronics safely + efficiently. Not a brick and mortar store anymore, which is disappointing, but glad they are keeping employees away from COVID, which is still rampant. Hope what we donate can be used to help someone in need. Cheers ??PS: a Community Center with Digital Navigators to help people use internet services?? Amazing!!! Ok now I want to volunteer”
“This is a fabulous addition to downtown OC. Super fun curation of items for yourself or to gift including vintage and modern clothing, housewares, unique jewelry and plants. I find a couple of treasures every time.”
“I met Judy Today. The William Temple house is our favorite Thrift store. The Goodwill is Closed on Burnside. Our mission is to find a small Christmas tree for our ornaments. Keep our fingers crossed we can score one!”
“Love love love
I shop & consign for trade here! It’s the best. Awesome verity & great prices & super friendly staff. Thanks for being here?”
“What I love about Buffalo Exchange is the concentration of cool vintage and unique pieces. Unlike traditional thrift shops where you might have to sift through racks of less appealing items, Buffalo Exchange presents a higher chance of finding hidden gems without the tedious search.
While the prices may be higher than your average thrift store, you're paying for the curated collection and the ease of finding stylish and sometimes one-of-a-kind clothing. I’ve found some great pieces here that have become staples in my wardrobe.
If you’re looking for a fun shopping experience and enjoy discovering unique finds, I highly recommend checking out Buffalo Exchange. It’s a great spot to explore and find some neat additions to your closet.”
“First time here today! My husband and I were blown away with the quality of the furniture and lamps. Staff are very friendly and helpful! We look forward to retuning. Fantastic prices, too!”
“Cool stuff at reasonable prices. They buy stuff too. If you buy a lot they will also wheel and deal on price. Definitely a fun place to be surprised with great deals.”
“This is my FAVORITE thrift store!!! I can shop for hours and still find more to look at! And the staff are great! I love seeing and talking with Elaine and Phil! They’re always so welcoming and helpful!
***A pro tip for anyone wanting to get clothes with there being no fitting rooms- Wear leggings and a tank top or other snuggly fit clothing. This way you can try things on over your clothes! There are even mirrors to see how you look!”
“Best Little Thrift Store ...all volunteers operate the store with a smile. All items are donated and in great condition...from new to vintage and the BEST part is the proceeds help people who struggle with addiction.”
“Great sober living facility. We took a meeting to the men there and had a uplifting experience. Met a group of men trying to be rigorously honest with eachother and on a journey of a new life. They are growing along spiritual lines one day at a time.”
“Had plenty of carts very busy day! only 2 people checking with a line so long all the way to the bikes and back down the center isle. Sometimes I want to scream can we get a checker”
