“Amazing place to shop. Staff are so kind, the prices you can't beat anywhere in pdx. I'm a single mother of two boys and I came in one day and didn't have enough money and the guy gave me a giant discount and said it's a hard job I'm doing and everyone deserves a break.”
“Feel like you’ve stepped back in time. The nostalgia is consuming. Suddenly you have an overwhelming desire to retrofit your entire home-Wait, actually move into a new home which is reminiscent of The Brady Bunch-or possibly a cool apartment like in Mary Tyler Moore and go all out with new-old-decor. It’s that good. Go, enjoy the experience-and remember to chat with the staff, they are an incredibly friendly bunch.”
“So many great finds and even better prices and people! Thanks to the kind person who helped me take apart the table I bought and load it into my car! Will definitely be back.”
“I’m in Portland visiting and I came across this thrift store. They carry mostly clothing and a few kitchen and household items. I was able to pick up some decorative items and a hand made coffee mug and a pottery. Will come back again.?”
“Love love LOVE this place! They have so many different things they offer, from furniture, clothing, knickknacks, toys and more! I highly recommend checking them out! Prices are very reasonable!”
“The staff are so kind and the store was very clean and well organized, they also did a good job with curating the end caps and cute displays of clothing! My favorite thrift store for catholic stuff, especially books!”

“I stumbled upon The Kindred Closet yesterday and was so thrilled to find it! Surprisingly large space that has something for everyone! I found an accordion coat hanger that I was looking for, many cool vintage clothing pieces to admire and they also have some newer items depending on which vendors area you are exploring. They have tchotchkes, clothes, home decor, lots of art, and textiles galore, not to mention a fitting room. Christina, the owner, was very kind and helpful and I can’t wait to go back to find more treasures.”
“This use to be a real RADICAL community organization, taking e-waste and letting volunteers help dismantle it for recycling in exchange for Linux boxes made from scrap and other great mutual aid platforms OPEN to the community. Now it is just an e-waste recycler that issues a tax coupon. Sad to see good communalism get libbed up like this. 4⭐ because what you do is still good, not 5 because I still remember how good you use to be.”

“Update: I like to donate to PACS store because they have a food pantry and (I think) a free clinic. I donate only good, usable clean items. But they keep setting their prices higher and higher. This is very disappointing.
(Old post): I've shopped here for years and watched the structural changes take place.
But since the change I've noticed that the prices are going up and up. I'm not the only one making this comment either. I'm the kind of peson who can strike up conversations easily (and usually do) and I hear people saying the same thing. This is so unfortunate and wonder why this is happening?
Goodwill Industries is a joke when it comes to finding a deal and I hope that PAC doesn't follow in it's shoes!
I bought a steel reinforced couch that was almost NEW for $10 here at PAC's and it was such a blessing to us who desperately needed a couch...please check on who determines prices and make sure they are doing their job correctly!
I've even seen things from the Dollar Tree for $2 or more here!”
“The Salvation Army in Gresham is a special place. From groups for women, activities for youth, a weekly dinner, and compassionate services for those in need in their community, they are truly making a difference. It's a great place to volunteer and get connected!”
“If you're looking to rotate your closet with kids/women's clothes, this is a great place for it. They give you a cut for 40% of what they sell without any other work on your end besides bringing in clean items.”
“My new favorite store that I wish was open on Sundays! I found the best pieces here for really great prices. For some reason I always have the urge to go on Sundays but they’re closed and I make myself sad every week haha”
“This is the place for any home improvement project! Paint and supplies, appliances, tools, and furniture. Everything was extremely organized and reasonably priced. Lots of lighting options too!”
“Went here with my boyfriend for the first time a while ago, and I still think about how special this place felt. The moment you walk in, there's this electric energy -- plants everywhere, unique thrift finds, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to stay and explore every corner. I remember telling him, "It would be so fun to work here one day," because it just radiates creativity, warmth, and good vibes. The staff were kind, the layout was beautiful, and it's one of those rare shops that instantly feels like home. If you love plants, vintage treasures, and places that spark a little inspiration, Alchemy is absolutely worth the visit.”
“Neat store, huge selection, friendly knowledgeable staff. It's too bad about it's location though. Lots of tents, smell of pee, crazy man in middle of street yelling. I work downtown so I'm a bit desensitized to it but I could only imagine what some may think.”
“I met Judy Today. The William Temple house is our favorite Thrift store. The Goodwill is Closed on Burnside. Our mission is to find a small Christmas tree for our ornaments. Keep our fingers crossed we can score one!”
“Love love love
I shop & consign for trade here! It’s the best. Awesome verity & great prices & super friendly staff. Thanks for being here?”
“What I love about Buffalo Exchange is the concentration of cool vintage and unique pieces. Unlike traditional thrift shops where you might have to sift through racks of less appealing items, Buffalo Exchange presents a higher chance of finding hidden gems without the tedious search.
While the prices may be higher than your average thrift store, you're paying for the curated collection and the ease of finding stylish and sometimes one-of-a-kind clothing. I’ve found some great pieces here that have become staples in my wardrobe.
If you’re looking for a fun shopping experience and enjoy discovering unique finds, I highly recommend checking out Buffalo Exchange. It’s a great spot to explore and find some neat additions to your closet.”
“Go often to check out if there is a treasure. There was for me! I got a $350 on Amazon practically brand new for $10. My best friend ever it’s a good thrift shop.”

“I have had nothing but positive experiences at this store. I think people are failing to realize that this is a goodwill boutique and not your everyday goodwill, yes the items are more expensive because they are higher end products and are good quality. I have found all my favorite jewelry pieces at this store and I love coming back. The employees have always been very kind and helpful, and I always have a good time in this store.”
“Great sober living facility. We took a meeting to the men there and had a uplifting experience. Met a group of men trying to be rigorously honest with eachother and on a journey of a new life. They are growing along spiritual lines one day at a time.”

“The Goodwill on 52nd is the closest to my home so I shop and donate there frequently. It is smaller than other stores in the area, but generally has a nice selection - I rarely leave empty handed.
Recently I accidentally donated a bag of clothing that had a shawl and throw-blanket I meant to keep. Fortunately, I dropped off the bag on Sunday and realized my mistake before they opened Monday. Tammy, a manager was very helpful. She asked me for detailed descriptions then had employees who sort the clothing look through the bin and find the items for me. They found the items right away and set them aside for me to pick up during my lunch. I really appreciate that Tammy returned my call right when the store opened and that she called me right away when they found the items I mistakenly donated.
I will definitely continue shopping and donating at this location.”

“Greg the manager is absolutely outstanding employee there! I can’t believe the customer service he provided for me while shopping there. Had a small issue with a return and not only was he informative but processed my return with such care and grace all the mean while keeping the location safe and reminding some questionable customers the correct procedures. Not only is he very kind but multitasks like a badass! Thank you Greg for all your help!!!!!!!”

“Love this store. I was visiting Portland from Vegas and I always find time to thrift while out of town and this store did not disappoint. Like all Goodwills, the prices were higher then they should be but given the pricing these days I still feel like I found amazing items for a decent price. I bought 5 pairs of designer shoes for $13 each and some great vintage clothing items. The store is super clean and organized and in a good location. Can't wait to visit again”

“While their prices are a bit higher than other Goodwills I've shopped at, I love this location. Shelves and racks are full of quality stuff, the staff is great, and the store is always clean and tidy. Special shout-out to their electronics wall, where I've often found the exact dongle or gizmo I needed for pennies. Overall it's my favorite Goodwill in town.”
“Great place for lunch or brunch then shopping for discounted used clothing, jewelry, sterling and China boutique items. This December their annual half price sale "talked me onto" a marvelous quality painting by a well known California artist!”
“I first visited Village Merchants ten years ago to get some “grown up” outerwear when I first moved to Portland. I was a young professional working downtown and wanted to look sharp. The first trench coat I even owned was from here, and it was $12.
Happy to report unlike a lot of places, prices here have remained reasonable. So many great finds for your home and wardrobe and the music is always great. I’ll always recommend Village Merchants.”
