“I have never written a review for a gas station in my entire life, but today I have to.I had to drive today from Bellingham, WA to Klamath Falls, OR to get to my Mom after learning she suffered a massive stroke this morning. I was hoping to make it before she passed away.Needless to say, I was pretty much a basket case by the time I stopped at the 76 to get eye drops from my baggage as all my crying was causing me to have sore eyes and blurred vision while driving in the dark.Somehow, my steering wheel got stuck in the wrong position and my key would not turn to start my vehicle after I got back in the car. I, very nervous being all alone at night in a strange place, ran up to the attendant booth to see if the employee would help me.I cannot imagine what Al (tag says Arthur but he said his name is Al) thought when he saw my bloodshot, puffy eyes and red nose and the massive dark circles under my eyes. Or what he thought when I couldn't explain my problem without starting to cry.But without a trace of judgement in his demeanor or eyes, he told me kindly to breathe and told me not to worry, that he knew what to do. He continued to remind me to breathe and assure me everything would be fine and I would be back on my way in no time as we walked to my car. He, patiently, walked me through the steps, seeing that I was not clearheaded, and when it still wouldn't turn, he reached in and yanked my steering wheel much harder than I could while I twisted the key and that did the trick. He then kindly told me that there was a bathroom behind the building if I thought I could use it, walked me over while I drove, and then asked me if I was okay. I said yes, but he looked concerned (not judgey just concerned). Still, he remained respectful and did not press it. He just said, "Okay, but you be very careful driving the rest of the way and remember to breathe."Meeting someone like Al on a day like I have had is a true blessing.I did not make it in time, Al, to see my Mom, but I did meet an angel today. Thank you. And, 76, I hope you know that Al is far too good for the position he has. Take good care of him. You also are incredibly blessed to have him.”
