SELCO Community Credit Union, established in 1936, is a member-owned financial institution serving Oregonians. Unlike banks, it does not answer to shareholders, which allows it to offer lower rates and focus on the local community. Customers often praise the friendly and helpful staff, highlighting their willingness to spend time with members and provide personalized service. Many reviews mention specific employees who are professional, kind, and patient, especially when assisting with complex transactions like wire transfers or exploring savings options. The credit union maintains a physical presence with local branches, which members appreciate for its accessibility and personal touch. However, some customers have expressed concerns about recent changes in service. The introduction of AI phone answering systems has frustrated members who prefer speaking with a live person. Additionally, experiences at certain branch locations vary; some staff are very friendly and positive, while others are perceived as dismissive or unhelpful, which impacts overall satisfaction. Limited operating hours, especially on Saturdays, also pose challenges for members with busy schedules. Despite these issues, the credit union remains valued for its great rates and customer service, though some customers feel that staffing and customer experience could be improved to better meet their needs.
I was interested in the rate for auto loans that was on promotion on the website, once I was in contact I was given a rate that was no where near the rate that was being offered on the website.

Does not offer currency exchange. Family has been a customer as long as we’ve been in Oregon. Feels like every time I inquire about services, they are offering less and less. Makes one wonder what they have to offer vs competitors these days.

Maggy was incredibly helpful and patient as I explored a wire transfer. Not only was she professional and knowledgeable, but incredibly kind as I came to the Portland branch twice. She answered all my questions and provided some insights on how I could increase my earnings on checking and savings $$$. Thank you Maggy!
