“Elverson is the best hardware store in the area. The Cook family staff has treated my dad, my uncle, and me right for over 40 years. They are so knowledgeable and help me with all of my questions on products and even had a nice light post ordered that I could not find anywhere. Unbelievable retro service is why this gem has been here for 100 years. Thanks guys.”

“I will always check here before other big box stores. Super friendly/helpful staff and a good selection for a “smaller” hardware store. (Small compared to Lowe’s/HD). 10/10 would recommend”

“Look we know what they are. I shop there at least 10 times a year. Never have I had any issues with price vs quality. Go there and shop there is at least 1 thing you could use”

“Come here all of the time and find most people to be extremely helpful, especially in the paint section. However, wish they'd fix the system to correctly ring up discounted plants and such.”

“Local and over the top in being able to help you. I had to find a sling door lock. No one had one… That had a book to order from and the knowledge to save a $500 door fix to a $30 fix. Give them a try and you will keep coming back. I have been shopping with them for 30 years and I remember the old shop..”

“Very friendly and professional. I purchased three propane tanks at lowes and went to gideon king to refill. Price to refill was great, but one of tank valves did not work, so the associate said to get it exchanged and he would refill it another day. I said sounds great, should i get my receipt marked for when i return? He said dont worry about it, he will remember my face... and he did! I am shifting all of hardware store needs here from now on! Really nice people!”

“I’m a customer from Canada and was ready to buy a lot of tree bolts for my treehouse project. After taking advantage of the free virtual meeting / consultation, the staff advised me that my trees were too small and I needed to modify my plan so that my treehouse would be safe. This resulted in a substantial order being cancelled so I am very grateful to the staff for their honesty. I will likely be shopping here again for accessories once my project gets to that stage. I also recommend the book “Backyard Treehouses” by the same owner (I think!) Honest, reliable and knowledgeable company!!”

“Tried out the dry canvas waterproof rub-on bar and it works great. Application was easy and relatively quick, although I had to use a bit more wax than I initially expected. I used up about 10% of the bar on a hat and will definitely be doing my work jacket as well.”

“Absolutely wonderful experience. Purchased a new Samsung washing machine. Carol helped us and she was awesome. We bought a new in box unit off the floor. It was discontinued model, with an excellent reduced price. My husband applied for Lowes credit card via Carol and received a $100 off the already discounted price. I urge anyone buying an appliance to ask for Carol.”

“I'm an electrician that recently moved to downingtown and needed a new electrical supply house. Fortunately Billows was close by. My first visit was nothing short of pleasant. Jeremy at the counter took the time to show me the lay of the land and assured me that he would help me and anyone from my company that came in. That was a year ago and to this day I will not go anywhere else for my electrical or tool needs solely because of how I was treated and the outstanding service. If you need it, he will find it for you. Thanks Jeremy and to the rest of the Billows staff!”

“Was only in here for a brief moment as I knew what I needed and was on a mission, however I had a good experience. The store was clean and organized. I didn't have any interactions with employees, but saw them interacting with other customers and it seemed to be going well. I used the self checkout and the process was painless.”

“I had a terrible experience at the Lowe's near by and made a bee-line here. I am an art teacher and once a year I go to Lowe's (well, not anymore) to have some wooden planks cut down to use for sculpture bases. Yesterday I tried the Lowe's in Pottstown, but their wood cutting was out of order. Today I went to Lowe's in Downingtown. I selected my planks and asked for assistance. The two people in the department were busy and asked me to wait until they were free. No problem. I waited 15 minutes for them to be free. When the employee met me at the cutter, he asked what I needed done. I had 4 10' planks that I needed cut into 12" pieces. It would take about 5 minutes to do. He told me he didn't have time to do it. He said if he did have time, he would have to charge me for the cutting (I already knew that because there was a sign saying so) I said I didn't mind paying for the cutting, but he refused to do it because he "didn't have enough time." There is a Home Depot just down the road. I went straight there. They were friendly and accommodating. They cut down the wood and it took 5 minutes. They did not charge me for the cutting and helped me load up my cart. It was a world of difference and the reason I will no longer shop at Lowe's. Thank you, Home Depot.”

“Found what we were looking for but needed help getting product from the top shelf and could not find anyone available to help so we used the rolling steps ourselves. Not a problem because it was quicker than waiting around for staff to become available.”
