About Capital Area Greenbelt
The Capital Area Greenbelt is an underappreciated resource, a roughly twenty-mile loop around Harrisburg. It offers a paved trail, mostly on paved surfaces with some unpaved and challenging segments, alongside a rippling river and through quiet woods. The scenery is beautiful and wonderful, providing greenery and views that hide the city's hustle and bustle. It is excellent for walking and biking, with several parking areas to start a trek.
The ride is generally great, though it requires careful navigation in some areas. Signage is mostly excellent, but a few spots need more signs or have incorrect arrows, leading to sketchy detours. Riders should be cautious passing through certain areas and when sharing roads with traffic. The path includes brutal climbs, especially on the east side of the deep gorge near the railroad. The trail provides a wonderful escape, transitioning quickly from busy city streets to a peaceful, shaded path.

My daughter and I have done the Greenbelt 2x now. Once on foot and once on bike. It's a beautiful route! We plan on coming back again this summer to do it again.
