“We have property in a remote area of PA and the Leeper Market is the closest food market around. They make their own maple sausage which is very good! They also have a wide selection of products for a small store and fairly priced.”

“My son and I stopped, for lunch, today. Stopped on a whim as we were hungry and saw that they sold subs. When I tell you they were the absolute best subs we’ve had in a while. I mean the absolute best. 20/10 stars here. We will definitely be back for more.”

“I love this discount store. I got a whole cart full last week for about $50 the same stuff at Walmart I calculated would have cost me over $200. The ladies there are super friendly. They are cash or check only. Also have baked goods available for purchase there and you can also place bakery orders for a later date too.”

“This is what I picture when I think of the old mom and pop shops of the 40’s & 50’s. The small town feel, locally sourced & homemade foods, clean cozy style set up, and a SUPER friendly staff. Connie (the owner) showed me around and talked business, family and recipes for a half hour. I will make it a point to stop every time I come into Tionesta!”

“I’ve been all over the country and even though I am not a major corporate “big box store” fan - this is hands down the nicest and cleanest Walmart I’ve ever been in. Surprisingly, a really pleasant experience with a very friendly and focused workforce.”

“This Dollar General in Clarion, Pa...near Clarion University was the best!!! The manager, Amy I think, was wonderful!!. We were found out of town and she was soo unbelievably helpful and kind. She went above and beyond to help us get Western Union that my hubby's company sent to help us... Will always go their while staying up there.... wish all employees were like her!!!!”

“This DG is convenient but not always very well stocked. If you want a certain brand of things like soda, cereal, or cat food, you have to get there early on Saturdays or it will sell out and you'll have to come back another day.

They made the sidewalk to the left of the store barely wide enough for a single cart and then also failed to put posts up, so if someone pulls their vehicle clear in to the curb you can't get your cart through because the front end of the vehicle will be in the way, so you will either have to take it over the curb and through the parking lot to get it to your car or else carry all of your bags to your car from that point. Also, God forbid you park on that side and then a delivery shows up, because the semis will park you in. The delivery entrance is at the back lefthand side of the building and there is not a lot of room to navigate. So avoid parking on the left unless you can avoid it.

Their biggest issue is the slow employees, especially when we aren't allowed to use the self-checkouts anymore. Unless you get lucky and the one chatty, polite, and efficient young man that they employ happens to be working, be prepared to stand in a long line because he seems to be the only one who can work and talk at the same time, or who seems to care that the line is long and people have other things they'd rather be doing. I have seen him come up to check the length of the line and then hop into checkout duty when needed. I have seen others finish a transaction and then stand there and carry on a conversation with someone they know while the line wound around the checkout lane and down the last aisle.

I hope that corporate reads this and gives that kid a raise to keep him there, because he is one of the only really good things that the store has going for it.

Other than that, I love how convenient it is, and that they have a decent amount of products.

Now, if only we could get the people who build DG stores to take over both the cashier positions and then PennDOT...”

“It's the beginning of the month. And everybody has to come in here with the food stamps and their disability payments. To buy their food Sadly, their shelves are mostly empty, so they don't get to. They need to stock the shelves for these events.
You would think by now they would understand the need to do this, but they don't. Sadly, probably not even the store that does it?It is probably corporate. It has gotten a bit better since I wrote this a while ago.”
