Dogs & Cats Rule
2814 S Eagle Rd, NewtownLove Dogs&Cats Rule for all my more niche pet needs!! When I’m looking for special treats, specific toys/puzzles, a certain brand or something that fits my dog who is outside the range of sizes most chains offer, I’m at Dogs&Cats. I always find what I need here. Staff is generally young, has always been friendly to us as customers. It’s a bit cramped inside and there’s a bunch of loose items, so fair warning if you have any mobility issues or a larger dog.

Sycamore Veterinary Hospital: Neubauer S DVM
228 N Sycamore St, NewtownI switched to Sycamore vet after the disastrous outcome from my experience with Holland vet. Update: Melody had to be put down last month due to atrophy in her legs brought on by the Chloramphenicol prescribed by Dr. Carey. Since changing to Sycamore Vet my experience was fantastic. Dr. Weiss was excellent in caring for my little girl. Most recently, I received a card in the mail signed by every one at Sycamore vet sending their condolences. It was unexpected and absolutely appreciated. I just remember when Melody was being to show signs of arthritis. Dr. Weiss prescribed a couple meds which almost immediately resolved the symptoms. Can't say enough abt my positive experience with Sycamore other than to say I wish I'd taken her there sooner. Excellent group of people at Sycamore. If I ever decided to get another dog I would most definitely bring her here. Thanks!

Sit Stay Newtown
550 Washington Crossing Rd, NewtownStruggled to find a place to board my 2 dogs for 2 weeks together. One of them is sort of a handful. The owner worked out a method to keep my pups stress free and safe. The kennel is a farm style place with outdoor runs and a cooled indoor space. App is easy to use for scheduling. Highly recommend.

Piccolo Trattoria
32 W Rd, NewtownBLOWN AWAY...packed, high energy restaurant Saturday night. Large parties of 10 or more seated in the added enclosed patio area. Not a seat to be had in the entire restaurant and tables turning over as quickly as they were cleared. It was like a magician was running the place. And still our food was outstanding (!!!), service was perfection (thank you Lauren), we were not rushed, and our guests were impressed. They have not been to our local restaurant in years. The six of us absoutely loved it. Standouts...hard to pick bc it was all good but my Hubs raved about his veal Marsala and I have to say I tasted it and that may have won. But my chicken français was also amazing... very tender and delicious. Not many places include a salad and a basket of bread anymore...so we appreciate that. And the balsamic dressing is amazing. We each brought a bottle of wine for the $15 cork fee. Lauren brought out wine chillers to keep it cold. Gotta love that. We have become regulars bc Piccolo is so darn good, great value and dependable. It checks every box. The noise level is a bit high but we try not to go with more than 6 people. For this past new years eve we ordered two trays for take out. One was the Pappardella Bolognese. The best we have ever had. Tried that dish at other places and Piccolo truly has the best. The 2nd tray was chicken marsala...also excellent. We will do this again and I highly recommend. I appreciated the way it was packaged and easy to reheat. To sum up...we love this place!

Pat's Colonial Kitchen
127 S State St Unit 4, NewtownFeb. 6th
Just had an absolutely wonderful breakfast with a Boston-based friend (an ex-Newtonian) at PAT'S COLONIAL KITCHEN. Always enjoy our too-few times together and he picked this spot for breakfast and catching up.
I hadn't been to this establishment for awhile since retiring from a nearby school and, as soon as I entered the cozy, welcoming interior, memories of great breakfasts from my days working in the Newtown area came flooding back. It was always a great place for fine food and good conversation.
We both ordered the Eggs Benedict, which were perfectly prepared and delicious. And, as a home fries aficionado, I have to point out that they were as good as it gets.
Add in a very friendly, efficient waitress, as well as an on-site, just-as-friendly owner, and I can assure you I'll be heading back a lot more often!

The Temperance House
5 S State St, NewtownJordan was alone on a lazy Sunday, but boy… can things change on a dime. Before you knew it, Temperance House was full to the gills. As guests began collecting inside, Jordan LOCKED in. All by herself, Jordan handled food and drink orders, checked on food at the window to ensure correctness, and ran food to where it belonged—all while maintaining rapport and professionalism with those watching her provide top notch service with one hand tied behind her back. 10/10 would come back just to watch Jordan serve others, let alone to be served by her.

Guru's
203 N Sycamore St, NewtownGurus is literally the best Indian restaurant. Owned by Priya ji and Guru ji who are the most caring restaurant owners. They will sit next to you on the ground when you order and take you through the process no matter how many times youve ordered Indian food. They are able to make modifications to everything. This is the first place where I had malai kofta which usually always made with cashews. However, they use such fresh ingredients they are able to change the recipes for those with allergies. My dad is Vegan and Gluten free via allergy and they have gluten free roti and can make most of the menu vegan and gluten free. And the best part is that even if they might not be able to make the modification, they are the type to make a brand new recipe for you. I used to take all my friends that had never tried Indian food to this restaurant and they still go to this day with their families. (30 mins away) Sadly I went away to college so Indian food there is terrible but every weekend I visit home I make sure I order from gurus. ALLERGY FRIENDLY just to reiterate. I hope everyone in the bucks county area in PA and Mercer County area in NJ is able to go and get some food since it's so nearby. Service is always impeccable and even if they are takeout for now I pray to eat with them dining in. For those who are leaving negative comments on the food and the service, have some patience, this family works extremely hard and loves the community. And the community loves them right back
