“This is one of my favorite stores in the city. Anytime I have a question about a project, I’ve always found a staff member who can point me in the right direction with good advice on which products to use.”
“Simply the best! I locked myself out and they came to help minutes before closing, and later installed a new code lock so I won’t lock myself out again. Always helpful and friendly for any hardware store needs as well. Cannot recommend Wilensky enough!”
“Great relic that is also very functional... They are the ONLY supplier in the city that carries Limeworks products for historical pointing. Love coming here. Chestnut Hill is one of my favorite parts of Philadelphia!”
“Imagine walking into a hardware or improvement store and always having assistance and knowledge immediately available instead of wondering around and hoping someone will not only help you but know what they are talking about.
That’s exactly what Blaise and the team at 3rd St Hardware serve up every time we are in a pinch to complete a project or need suggestions on how to tackle a new one.
Since joining the neighborhood, we have been so grateful this shop exists and we aren’t relegated to only a big-box experience.
Thank you Blaise and everyone at 3rd St Hardware!”
“A very beautiful store excellent. I've been retail for over 30 years. And this stores one of my top stores. Excellent staff, excellent management. Love the whole store.”
“The new plexiglass window and rescreening of an old screen was done in in excellence, in record time (same day), and the cost was moderate. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable; they knew their stuff. I will be back again.”
“Fairmount Hardware is a neighborhood institution, with good reason. Dave, the owner, goes out of his way to help non-professionals with their projects, large and small. He wired a lamp for me, he also cut glass to put in a frame I had, saving me the expense of having a framer do it.
I think he tries to impart to the young people he hires to work in the hardware store as much of his wisdom as possible. Yesterday, he instructed a young trainee as to how to remove a bit of rust on a porcelain plaque I brought in.
Today, another trainee made a great suggestion as to how I might attach the plaque to a Target basket with wingbolt nuts and butterfly screws, rather than the furniture nails I’d bought the day before.
The clerk at the cash register gave me a credit for the unused furniture nails I had bought the day before and deducted the cost of the two wingbolt nut and screws —you cannot get better service than that anywhere.
Hail Dave and his team!”

“Absolutely fantastic, I live right up the street and go here all the time and could not be happier with their service and their items in stock. They have everything you can imagine and more”
“I visit this store frequently and I never have an issue. Very clean, always able to get the help I need, and the bathroom are clean. The coupons will help you save money on items that are already low cost.”
“I do maintenance around the block. This is the Best neighborhood hardware store. Very reasonable prices, great service. I can find here almost anything I need. Saves me a lot of trips to Home Depot.”
“Had to go here today for a real estate issue with a lock. This hardware store had just what I needed and saved me a trip. Good customer service, decent prices, quality products. Thanks to the gentleman who assisted me and taught me how to use the tool I needed correctly.

“Oh this place has anything you need for your home repairs .. decor.. plus more. It has been a staple in my neighborhood for years.. if you're every looking for something hard to find just give Ritner hardware a call.. they rarely disappoint..”
“Once again we had fantastic service from one of the owners of 10th Street Hardware. This time it was Steve DeShong. He spent a goodly amount of time on Saturday trying to figure out how to fix a broken soap dispenser (purchased elsewhere) we had brought in. Even though he couldn't get it to work (and we ended up buying a new one from his store), we were impressed with his determination to help us. We have been loyal customers of this store for years and value the fantastic advice and help we get from Steve and his partner Troy Usnik.”
“I needed some bubble wrap for packing before moving, and though he doesn’t sell these at his store, Cohen was happy to give away some bubble wrap he had in his store storage room. A kind person and great store for your hardware needs!”
“Every time I walk into this shop I get the help I need. Today I ran into an issue with an expensive project I was doing and the woman behind the counter did everything she could to help and make sure i got the tools I needed. Even got help from some customers who had a drill on hand thanks to her.”
“Great local hardware store, with a good selection of paint colors to choose from. I stopped by just for paint, and the employee who helped me was very nice. I appreciated not being overly talked to, and he was quick with getting my paint all mixed together. It's nice to have a store in the neighborhood that's easy to walk to.”
“Great service, great selection without the long lines.Neighborhood hardware store who knows your name.Supporting local businesses is very important to your community.Same owners for 2 generations they must be doing something right”

“Very friendly, helpful customer service. There’s a little bit of everything here with good, competitive prices. Prices are about equal to big online retailers, with the bonus of supporting local business! So thankful to have a place like this so close to my home.”
“The Hardware's are my forte you never know what they might have what you might need or just to shop and look around I like Hardware better than those big bucks stores stop by check it out and help help out the little guy”
“My husband and I did a full gut renovation of our South Philly home and Mike Spotts was so helpful through the process in picking out our doors, trim (baseboards, wall molding, door casing) and door hardware. The construction process was very stressful for us but working with Mike made it so much easier. Thank you so much, Mike, for your patience with my *very* specific needs! ?”
“This was my first time here and I dealt with Tom. He helped me get what I needed for my project since this was my first time going duct work. Took the time to listen and suggested the material I would need to complete the job. He even ordered a part they didn’t have and it came the next day. Thanks Tom!”
“I gave this store a 4 because this is a comeback store, and it is not like the previous one. They sell house items, towels, car items, hair products, laundry products, pictures, etc, at a reasonable price. It's still a good place to shop.”

“The place was organized the store was well lit the staff was fast n helpful. They had what i needed and knew how to locate the item swiftly. The prices where ok. The parking seem to be my only problem. I had to park in a bus only zone and run in and out wich with the stores help I was in and out but there's no parking only on the side streets wich are always packed. All in all the experience here was ok no hassles waits or worries.”
“A great place for building materials , lumber , sheetrock ,masonry materials, concrete supplies and the hardware supplies a builder needs. Fair prices and a friendly staff. A half of block South of 53rd and Baltimore ave.”
“Whenever I need tools or supplies for a project, this place comes through every time. The staff are knowledgeable and always ready to help you find exactly what you need. It’s a one-stop shop for any DIY enthusiast.”
“Friendly helpful staff. Their new location has off street parking. The entrance is on Musgrave not Haines. I drove past it thanks to maps I stopped and investigated. No sign posted yet”
“I'm glad they still got hardware stores in the community its a lot for me to go to lowe or the home Depot.. you get personal professional attention. Owners are very kind. I always find what I need. I've been going there for the past 10 years.”
“If you want cold, sterile and unhelpful- go anywhere else. If you want to be treated like a valuable human, Stanley's is the place to go.
When you walk in, they ask how they can help you. When you tell them, they will explain any other supplies you may need as well. They are the perfect consultants. We also had an antique lamp that required some repairs. Someone else wanted to take it home as a side project. It came out far better than we expected.
On top of hiring locals and having staff who have been around for ages, it's a breath of fresh air going in there. I can't recommend them enough.”
