Pet Friendly Dog Bakery
4324 Main St, PhiladelphiaIf you have a dog, you need to get yourself here! I am so in love with this sweet shop and will be stopping by every time I am in Manayunk, which is usually with my pooch since it's on our way back from hikes at the Wissahickon. This bakery has a play area which I didn't even realize until I went to write this review, and they also have the cutest cookies, treats, accessories, and goodies for your dog. The staff here was the absolute sweetest and the vibes are just very good. My dog was so happy to be there and thoroughly enjoyed her St. Paddy's Day "lucky" cookie later that day. They were having a dog party later in the day, replete with doggie beer (LOL) treats, and playtime. I am so happy to know this business exists and will absolutely be getting my dog's birthday cakes and treats from here moving forward. An excellent addition to the already very dog-friendly Manayunk. Feel free to replicate my new dream Saturday: long hike at the Wiss, brunch on a patio, and a stop by this awesome shop. Tell your dog I say hi!

I am pretty picky about what I look for in a daycare and this place has far exceeded any expectation I had! They were also super patient with my dog and allowed him to integrate with the pack at the rate he was comfortable with. It is clear that everyone who works there is knowledgeable and loves dogs. 1936 Federal St, PhiladelphiaThis is about the easiest 5-star review I’ve ever given. I’ve taken my pup to several Philly-area groomers. Some have been good. Some ok. One was terrible. Top Dawg was spectacular. The groomer listened to what I wanted, and nailed the cut perfectly. He’s basically an artist when it comes to grooming. It was the most expensive place I’ve been to - but completely worth it. Finally found a spot I’ll go to consistently.

Fairmount Pet Grooming
2315 Fairmount Ave, PhiladelphiaI have been going to this place for 16 years now and have never once regretted coming here. I am a middled class man and every other vet I have seen has given me outrageous prices.. $3000+ however, Fairmount Animal Hospital has cheap and great prices. The usual price I pay is around $300 cheap and worth it 100%. I'm actually shocked to see all these one star reviews.. Dr. Eynard actually cares about his customers and takes his time to actually give you an overall view on your pets health. I recommend this vet if you are looking for a cheap and welcoming place. Overall 9/10

The office is clean and inviting and we’ve always been seen on time. I love that it’s a cat only place since I’m not sure how my cat would react to being near dogs in a vet office! For being a smaller practice(I.e. not a chain such as VCA etc) I figured their prices might be be higher but they really aren’t. The staff scheduled us as a new patient immediately with kindness and empathy. During the visit, the doctor and staff were extremely attentive, concerned, caring and knowledgeable. They were gentle and patient, as our cat Dixon was extremely fearful. We left feeling that they truly care and that Dixon received thorough and excellent care. HD Dog Training Llc
112 S 19th St Apt. 1407, PhiladelphiaWe got our puppy Nala when she was about 8 weeks old. By the time she was 9 months she was a very reactive dog that frightened easily and showed some aggression. We felt hopeless and needed more help than just the basic training we had done ourselves with her. HD Dog training was recommended to us so we decided to check them out. We met Rob and right away we knew he could help us. His passion and dedication for dog training gave us hope. After her board and train with Rob we could see a huge difference. She is well behaved, listens to commands and is just overall a better dog. You will definitely see results when working with HD Dog Training and I highly recommend them.

I have a sensitive/reactive dog and it's hard for me to let other people handle him, but knowing that he is getting one on one personalized care from someone who really loves and wants the best for your dog made all the difference. The app makes communication very easy and I appreciated the amount of detail left in the notes after each walk. Highly recommended for anyone in the Philly area, especially if you have a dog that needs a little extra attention and encouragement!

Opportunity Barks Behavior & Training
3510 Scotts Ln #3112, PhiladelphiaMy husband and I adopted our 7 month old puppy Reggie right before Christmas, and knew we needed some help pretty much immediately. He was such a sweet boy, but had no "off" switch. He was very toy fixated and would nip and bite at us when he was frustrated from not getting what he wanted. No amount of stern "no's", or pretend yelping helped him calm down. It was clear that he was having trouble self regulating. We started with 3 weeks of day training in Old City, and we quickly saw so much progress that I didn't think was possible. We ended up opting for the full 6 week program, and it was such an easy choice to make, after seeing how much Reg was getting out of the classes. He was able to release his toys on command now and turn his brain off of the fixation from the toy to us when we asked. He learned how to quickly go from play, to relaxation, and we saw a huge improvement on his impulse control skills.Plus we were learning just how much rest and sleep this poor puppy really was needing on a daily basis in order to make better decisions during waking hours. Our trainer, Britt, really is the best kind of dog trainer there is. She's so incredibly knowledgeable, and compassionate. She looped us in every day about Reggie's progress, and I always looked forward to her daily updates and videos. Our 1:1 classes gave us so much clarity on what they were working on, and how to level up at home. She was always willing to answer our questions, and when I would over-fixate on socializing him with other dogs (trauma from owning a reactive dog for years before), she explained how socialization really means neutrality. It was a big learning experience for our whole family, not just the pup!We are officially an OpBarks family through and through, and I will always recommend them to anyone with a dog. Reggie might have graduated, but he'll always be a return customer, leveling up as he gets older and wiser.

Stronghaus Dog Training Center
12323 Wyndom Rd, PhiladelphiaMeet our baby Frankie, she is 7 months old German Shepherd mix, and was a handful and a 1/2, until we met Chris. The whole time he had her, I was missing her something awful, even to the point where I was even okay with the no sleeping, the stress of her not learning how to walk properly, and scared of everybody, including her own shadow most of the time, but I'm glad that we gave her this chance with Chris. She is a joy, and a love, and she deserves so much especially a chance to show how good she can be walking on a leash, and behaving while she's with other people and other animals. She did have it in her, and Chris was just able to find it in her, and bring it out. She walks so nicely and she's learning to make friends with people when she was scared of them before. She even has a young lady who comes 4 times a day to walk her for us, and our contractors are now able to come into the house without being afraid of her barking or jumping on them, and tonight is the first night she was able to sleep in her cubby. I am so proud of her. And I am so so very proud and thankful for Chris. I appreciate all the time he took with her and I was so scared that it wasn't going to stick, But it did. Thank you again, Chris, for all you done. You are truly a dog whisper. Thank you for helping her.

Saved Me Rescue
2609 Federal St floor 1, PhiladelphiaMy sweet dog, PD, adopted me just before the pandemic lockdown. It was that expression and his sad brown eyes and his scrappy, unkempt hair that endeared him to me.

Roxborough Dog Park
4117 Mitchell St, PhiladelphiaThis park requires membership with a yearly fee. My pup needs to run and play to get her energy out. There are toys at the park for all the dogs to use and we've found some of her favorites because she can try them all. The people there are friendly and conscientious. My dog started there as a puppy and she's learned a lot by interacting with other dogs. I'm grateful that people were kind as we worked on training and recall. It's a great space with a good community. The fees go towards insurance costs and maintenance of the space.
