About Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education
The Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education inspires meaningful connections between people and nature. With 365 acres of fields, forests, ponds, and streams in northwest Philadelphia, the center works through four core program areas: environmental education, environmental art, land stewardship, and wildlife rehabilitation. The Wildlife Clinic is currently open to new intakes, with drop-off hours from 9am to 6pm daily. The Nature Preschool classroom opens directly onto the nature preserve, giving children a unique opportunity to explore and learn about their relationship to the natural world. Visitors praise the center's indoor discovery center, which was a hit with young children, and the beautiful hiking trails with cool sculptures. The staff are described as kind and knowledgeable, providing helpful information to visitors. The center offers a variety of hiking options, from flat to moderate to challenging, and is a popular destination for families and school field trips. Teachers particularly appreciate the center's engaging, standards-aligned curriculum and the expertise of the environmental educators who lead the field trips. Grant funding is available, making the trips accessible to Title I schools. The center is open to the public year-round and is considered a true Philadelphia treasure by the local community.

A beautiful local nature museum, hiking trails & education center! We came for a short hike over the holiday weekend and enjoyed ourselves! Many different hikes to choose from flat, moderate to hard. It's definitely a nice option when we're ready for a nice hike in our neighborhood!
