The Hampton Inn State College receives mixed reviews from guests, with strong praise for its staff but some inconsistencies in experience. Many guests highlight exceptional, kind, and helpful front desk employees, who are noted for their sincerity, smiles, and going above and beyond to assist with issues or recover lost items. The housekeeping team is also commended for thoroughness and honesty. Reviews frequently describe the rooms as clean, well-kept, and comfortable with very comfortable bedding and effective air conditioning. The location is considered very close to Penn State and central for related activities. However, some negative points are noted. One guest found their room not as clean as expected and described a musty smell, also expressing surprise that pets are allowed. The complimentary breakfast receives mixed feedback, described as just okay by one reviewer with a daily emphasis on peppers and spices in the eggs, though another guest praised its good variety and high-protein options. A significant criticism involves management's handling of an early checkout request, which a guest found unreasonable and poorly communicated, negatively impacting their perception of the hotel's policies and support for Hilton Honors members. Despite this, many guests state they would return or recommend the hotel, specifically citing the excellent staff and comfortable, clean rooms.
Rosaria was very helpful with checking me in and signing me up for the rewards program

Rooms were not as clean as I would have expected. Breakfast was just OK. A lot of peppers and spices every day in eggs etc. Didn't realize they let animals in the rooms. Ours smelled musty.

Rory and Rosalyn were so helpful and kind after a booking issue we had. They were patient with us and helped us figure out what happened so we could get into a room after a 4 hour drive.
