I was looking for a specific Specialized model and the only local bike shop who had my size and model was Ten Spokes. I spoke with the owner, Tom Kearns who was professional and accommodating. I called on a Friday at 3:50PM and his store was closing at 5:00. He told me not to worry and that he'd wait for me to drive there. With fall traffic, it took me over an hour and he waited for me. That's service to me.
He had the bike ready for me to test ride and told me to take my time. With the ride and purchase, I didn't get out of there until 6:00PM. Again, that's service. He didn't rush me, he let me ask all the questions I had and offered clear and concise answers.
With all of the options to purchase a bike, go and talk to Tom and his staff at Ten Spokes. They all get an A+.
Update: Bikes like cars and every other product can have issues. The difference is when the store you buy something from stands behind their product.
I'm having an issue with a rear cassette. My local bike shop in Florida handled it like most shops. I'll sell you a new one and you can go after the manufacturer (SRAM). I called Tom at Ten Spokes and he told me to ship the cassette to him and he'll talk to the SRAM rep and figure out if there's a warranty issue. Going the extra mile is what Tom does.”
