Fort Adams State Park is a National Historic Landmark and a very cool place to check out. This incredible fort is one of the most complex coastal fortifications in the United States, with lots of historical artifacts. Visitors can be a part of history walking through the fort and seeing how it was done centuries ago. The grounds are very nice and peaceful, right on the water's edge, offering beautiful views of Newport Harbor and Narragansett Bay. It is a great place to walk, roam, and enjoy the outdoors. Guided tours are highly recommended to learn the history, with knowledgeable guides. The Fort Adams Trust has invested heavily in the fort's restoration.

We had a great time walking along the seashore around the state park. The walls of the Fort are interesting.

On a recent trip to Newport we visited Fort Adams state park. The grounds were very nice, right on the waters edge and it seemed like a really good place just to walk the bay trail and maybe lunch outdoors. Very peaceful and plenty of room to roam.
