“Honestly one of the BEST retail experiences we have had. Brien spent so much time with us and literally answered EVERY question we had and we had a lot. We were in a month ago while in Newport looking at a boat and knowing we needed gear i had started researching online and found Gill. Well i was impressed online and so excited to find they had their one and only store in the world, right in town!!!!! Anyway after firing off 2-3 dozen questions we told Brien we would return and if we bought the boat we were coming in to buy gear. Well we came in close to closing ( Friday the 13th ) and again had a lot of questions and he again answered. We kept him busy in and out of the back looking for this or that in a certain size and he was happy to do it. Quite a peasant change from a 16 year old on their phone who you are bothering while trying to spend money at their store. Brien did not look at his phone once and did not even mention once that we were approaching his 6pm closing time. We were not rushed and it was such a pleasant experience. We ended up having to buy their 90L bag to haul our stuff as there was so much. Besides the great retail experience the gear seems to be such a good value. Its literally 50-70% less expensive than some of the big name competitors. We ended up buying light, medium and heavy weather gear so 3 full outfits each and then some additional jackets and boots ( the giant fleece lined poncho/sleeping bag is AWESOME ) , and gloves and it was shockingly reasonable. He extended us a discount for an upcoming sale they would be having which i thought was very nice and generous. We are excited to get out sailing and put this stuff into use and we will certainly return as we figure out what we need to put on the boat for guests. He's got our business as long as he is there that is for sure. Thank you Brien!!!!!!!!”

“Great company. I deal with them regularly. Having lived on the east coast for a while where they are based, I have an affinity there, too. Lisa is knowledgeable and patient & professional. Everyone there is very pleasant and they have quality equipment. I tell them it's Mike again who experienced 1 of the late 70s/80s big glory days of bodybuilding that had Mike Katz and Robby Robinson, and Casey Viator, and who also lived in NYC for a spell during the exciting late 70s & early 80s when the L.A. Lakers often did battle with the Boston Cetlitcs. I have purchased a lot from them, often big ticket price equipment at affordable costs. It's Always a worry-free transaction. I've never had any negative experiences, let alone being notified at the last minute, sorry we ran out of stock. They treat me well too. Thanks perform-better, Rhode Island. Thanks sooo much. :)”

“We’re staying in Newport Rhode Island for the weekend. I googled bike shop so that I could buy a lock because I forgot mine. Stopped over at 10 spokes bicycle shop and I couldn’t be happier. The owner was very nice and he actually filled up the air in our tires, and gave us a free bicycle map and gave us a ton of places to ride to even let us park our car in his driveway. Huge variety of bicycles and accessories. Great establishment.”
“As a plus size woman I was nervous to step foot into this store. I was hesitant because some stores claim to be “all inclusive sizing” but only go up to an XL. From the second my husband and I walked in. We were greeted by warm smiling faces and that’s when I noticed the plus size mannequins and that had my sold. It makes me so happy to see this because ALL bodies should be celebrated. More stores need to follow in their steps. Huge kudos to this store. ;)”

“I started fishing with Andy back in early 90s when my boss took me for the first time. Now I own my own company and can take my employee and other business associates out. I have never had a bad trip with Andy and now his son as first mate. If you want a first class trip of a lifetime book with these guys. Anyone can take you for a boat ride . These guy will take you fishing. Last year and this year the members of my fishing party were telling each other “ no you take the pole no you take the pole “ we were so worn out catching fish. Warning if you book with these guys get a good night sleep and rest up your going need it .”
