“Fun place to browse. They have a lot of work my Rhode Island artists including some work I recognized from a painter in Providence and a guy in Wayland Square that makes elaborate leather bounded journals. They also had some jewelry and interesting assortments of rocks like geodes and crystals. Intriguing design elements for sale too like metal grates and lattices. Unfortunately they close at 5 and we came in right at closing so didn't have much time to look around. Would be a good spot for gifts although the prices are a bit high for many items.”

It’s a shame to see so many negative reviews about the return policy and the sales associates. The policy is clearly posted at the register and around the store. And while the girl at the register was not wearing Lilly, she was kind and helpful.

“Nothing but good things to say.I stopped by the shop while visiting Newport and picked up 3 great looking shirts. When I got home I noticed the shirts were a little small and needed to size up. I reached out and got a response almost instantly telling me to send them back for an exchange free of charge despite not having my receipt. “A must shop when you are in Newport Rhode Island. Fun mix of bands and price points. The owner was friendly and so helpful! I didn't feel like trying on a few items I wanted to buy and she quickly volunteered to do so and give me a little insight on each of the brands.I also admired a little object de art that wasn't for sale and I found it in my bag.I highly recommend you stop by, you won't be disappointed.”
“I have had shirts and hoodies made here several times and have always loved the final product. The staff is very friendly; Anne is especially helpful with the design process, she will sketch something up right there and then and send you a few proofs within a day for your approval. The shirts were done quickly and once I arrived to pick them up, they were packed up and even delivered to my car by Andrew (one of the owners). Great service and quality products! Will be going back for more.”

“Honestly one of the BEST retail experiences we have had. Brien spent so much time with us and literally answered EVERY question we had and we had a lot. We were in a month ago while in Newport looking at a boat and knowing we needed gear i had started researching online and found Gill. Well i was impressed online and so excited to find they had their one and only store in the world, right in town!!!!! Anyway after firing off 2-3 dozen questions we told Brien we would return and if we bought the boat we were coming in to buy gear. Well we came in close to closing ( Friday the 13th ) and again had a lot of questions and he again answered. We kept him busy in and out of the back looking for this or that in a certain size and he was happy to do it. Quite a peasant change from a 16 year old on their phone who you are bothering while trying to spend money at their store. Brien did not look at his phone once and did not even mention once that we were approaching his 6pm closing time. We were not rushed and it was such a pleasant experience. We ended up having to buy their 90L bag to haul our stuff as there was so much. Besides the great retail experience the gear seems to be such a good value. Its literally 50-70% less expensive than some of the big name competitors. We ended up buying light, medium and heavy weather gear so 3 full outfits each and then some additional jackets and boots ( the giant fleece lined poncho/sleeping bag is AWESOME ) , and gloves and it was shockingly reasonable. He extended us a discount for an upcoming sale they would be having which i thought was very nice and generous. We are excited to get out sailing and put this stuff into use and we will certainly return as we figure out what we need to put on the boat for guests. He's got our business as long as he is there that is for sure. Thank you Brien!!!!!!!!”
“One thing I like about Newport is that they really have unique merchandise in many of the shops. In an age where "good shopping" is sort of moot if you live in New York or, duh, have the internet, this is one place where you actually can find some unusual items. Royal Male has a lot of Barbour and St. James clothes, but also high quality clothing from smaller manufacturers. The best reason to shop there, though, is that the two guys who are usually in the Mary St. location actually know clothing . Yes, they want to sell you pieces, but they know their inventory, they know how clothes are supposed to fit, they have some idea if a color compliments your complexion, and they won't let you leave unless something looks good on you. That's a vanishing skill, and it's priceless. Stop in. My wife (yes, they have women's clothes) and I always do, every time we visit Newport.”

Walked in not really knowing what I needed but was helped by Jordan and she knew all the best styles and what fit specifically for me and Jordan was amazing and deserves recognition. “This boutique has such a great variety of unique clothing and accessories. The owner Elaine exudes enthusiasm for fashion and making sure her customers have the best experience while shopping. The price points are a bit high- don’t expect a bargain. But you will get personal shopping/styling and leave feeling like it was worth the spend. The store has great high end denim brands and lots of nice boutique labels. The seasonal sweaters are super cute. Give them a follow on socials- love their fun reels!!”
