“This place was great I got my storage unit in June and I was in a jam needed a place quickly at a decent rate and was going to be moving items around from house to house until I finally just now decided to relocate out west. Bonnie was great I had to use the u haul and the process was easy and it was affordable for me to move my stuff. So from starting my unit to everywhere in between to the end of the exit process she was there to meet the demand. Awesome customer service all the way around.”

“I'm editing my original review below and upping Strand Storage's rating to 4 stars for quickly contacting me and rectifying the issue by refunding the errant late charge. The problem was not really the fault of Strand Storage but with U-Haul in MD and the U-Haul app in general. When I made the reservation with U-Haul, I had 4 days allowed with the truck and a due date of Feb. 2. This was written in both the contract and in the U-Haul app. On the day before pick up, U-Haul in Maryland changed both my truck pick up location to a very inconvenient location 20 miles away and my drop off location to Strand Storage. The app and the contract both continued to show a due date of Feb. 2, but in a different section of the contract (unnoticed by me) they dropped the allowed days to 3...a very messed up contract. I was happy that Strand realized this mistake and made things right.
Original Review: Per my pre-paid contract, I returned the 20 foot U-Haul truck used for a move from MD to Myrtle Beach to the South Strand Storage Center. The truck was returned a day early, completely clean, proper level of gas and with all the leased moving blankets. The person who met me checked to make sure all was good and said he would email a receipt and then drove the truck around the back of the storage units. I left with my wife who was waiting. Two days later an additional charge shows up on my credit card. I contacted the main U-Haul phone number. The U-Haul phone agent said South Strand shows the truck as being checked in a day late. The truck was returned a day early!!! The charge is being disputed with U-Haul and will be also be disputed with my credit card. I would avoid using this place.”
“The owner John is a great guy. When I had nowhere to park my car and needed to find a place ASAP he was immediately responsive and was able to get me a spot the same day. Throughout the 9 months I have rented from him he has always been prompt and responsive whenever I have had any questions and his attitude just lets you know he cares. My vehicle and belongings have gone through multiple big storms and come out untouched and the security measures have given me peace of mind especially since this was my first time renting a storage unit. I feel like I paid a fair price and got exactly what I needed.”

“I've been renting for years but the hours of access suck. 7pm cutoff for access is alot of stress... maybe extend it to 10pm. Ive also seen signs of bug and rodent infestation on occasion. (Droppings, etc.) Furthermore, they updated the keypad that displays gibberish but it works as long as you don't accidentally hit the wrong keystroke. This has been for months. Just fix it already for what we pay. The rates seen to increase often. With what I've just mentioned, I don't understand where the extra money goes.”

“They have two friendly pet turtles. They have storage unit sizes on the floor of the main office. The person running his taillight business out of one of the units moved out. You can buy snacks from the counter. They are mostly bags of chips, though. You can't rent a trailer here if you have a vehicle designed for towing that they don't like. There are no rats (that I know of) living in the storage units. This place wants to keep your stuff (if you give them money) until you decide to retrieve it so you have a more convenient life. This place doesn't serve Italian food on Saturdays. I'm unable to verify these people do not search through your stuff to find traces of your DNA to send to Chinese spies. The turtles are adorable, so I've attached pictures of one.All details are as of June 2023, and may no longer be true.”
