“The staff was so very kind and helpful in my multiple stops in to try honey and purchase gifts and honey for myself. This honey is so delicious, definitely a must! Thank you for the great service!!!”
“I would highly recommend anyone visiting Charleston and wanting to pick up any souvenirs or clothing while there should stop by the Palmettoville store. They have some very nice things that some of the other stores don't have. My wife and I visited in May and she wanted a particular sweatshirt but they were out of her size. Once they got more in stock Jessica and the owner Deren were more than happy to ship it to her.Next time we are in Charleston we will definitely stop in again.”
“I had the pleasure of visiting Black Octopus Mercantile, owned by lovely local artist Missy Johnson, on a trip to North Charleston from Canada. The shop, which came highly recommended by locals, is filled with fun, quirky gifts and souvenirs that perfectly capture the easy-going and free-spirited vibe of North Charleston featuring Missy’s original designs.
I very much enjoyed meeting and chatting with Missy herself as she was running the till that day. Her love for her community is palpable. We spoke at length about the importance of reviving the area and bringing more folks to North Charleston. Her passion to her craft and dedication to the community could be felt in every small detail and kind word she had.
I found out this is a new storefront and the place looks fantastic, and is a great addition to the neighbourhood, complimenting its spirit and culture. It would be wonderful to see the community and the city show her the appreciation she so richly deserves.
A must-visit for anyone travelling through North Charleston!”
“Wonderful experience. I’ve bought some of their oils from their stand at the Greek Festival in the past. I decided to order online and have it shipped. I got a few fun flavors and some basic flavors. I am so happy with how fast they came. I am so happy with the flavors. I also had a little hiccup with one of the bottles during the shipping and it was resolved the next day. I can not say enough wonderful things about Lowcountry Olive Oil. Definitely order some or go there! Highly recommend. Thank you to them as well!!! ❤️❤️☺️”

“I’ve been here multiple times, and I’ve always found such a hidden gem! And I’ve already made two of their DIY trucker hats and everyone always asks where I made it! The owner and staff are amazingly kind and professional. Everyone needs to check this place out especially if you’re looking to take home a piece of Charleston!”
“We were intown from Southport, NC and having our nails done at a shop within this plaza when we discovered Lowcounty Whimsy. Sophie Netter was amazing showing us around the shop which had the most unique items. Bought several things and will certainly be back when I am in Mt Pleasant. Please do yourself a favor and pop into this one-of-a-kind experience, you won't regret it. Thank you, Sophie, and make sure you get some crystals on the way out! XO”

“This store is absolutely amazing! Decorated so wonderfully!! The team is what really made me want to stay longer as well as come back. Shout out to Abby, Grace and Ania… they deserve the world!!! xo”
“The owner is absolutely the sweetest person. I enjoyed talking to her and shopping. She has a beautiful store with amazing items to choose from. A lot of the gifts are locally sourced, which I appreciate. She loves pups, so definitely bring them because mine loved her ❤️”
“This is a great little shop. A nice selection of jewelry and other nice gift items. Love to go and see what's new any time I'm over that way. The owner and staff are very helpful and will gift wrap if you want.”
“Love your products! I was looking for something different to give to my clients and found your products on pinterest! I'm a realtor so when a client purchases their new home I give them a gift basket to say, "thank you". All of my clients always love these sink strainers because its so unique and creative. Love them!”
“This shop was gorgeous and laid out very well, with decently wide and clear walking paths with beautiful festive decorations around them. The staff were very humble and helpful. They even offered a few Halloween ornaments!”
“My daughter and I stopped here on a girls' trip. Met the owners and they were so nice. Everything is so cute and affordable. Jewelry, home decor, PJs, gifts….some of the items are original and made by local vendors. Would be hard to find anywhere else! highly recommend a stop at this boutique!”
“Such a delightful little store! Incredible that everything is locally made, and the staff managing the register there on Saturday we’re just the most polite and helpful youngsters, love to see it.”
“I didn't know they had their own stand alone store, but I stopped at the little area they have inside of the Charleston city market. The display is so clean and bright. I went to just smell some things and the woman working, Hannah, was so sweet and helpful. Made light conversation and shared her favorite scents as well. I thought the price point was very fair for small batch soaps and lotions. Will revisit the next time I'm in the area. Costal Christmas is a must have.”

“Bought several of the small jams and a few salad dressings. They’ve all been wonderful tasting. So not store bought taste. They have several flavors including some with interesting combinations , which taste great too!Wish I would have bought more while I was there on vacation but didn’t know how all were going to taste until I was back in my state. Highly recommend!”

“One of the largest gift shops in the area. Shirt prices are below other shops in the area, but other gifts are about average for the area. I would recommend this location based just on options and size of the store!”
“Shirt prices average from $25 for one or $45 for two. They have some beach chairs ,sand toys and water toys. Prices on cups and souvenirs are average/high for the area.”
“Excellent yeah overpriced gift shop if you need a float, ?️ sand toys, shovel, apparel, ? sunscreen, or souvenirs. The staff or hit or miss. Parking is limited but they do have ♿ handicap accessible parking nearby.”
“This store was absolutely delightful! I needed to change my sweater so I bought one and the associate was so sweet and let me know there was no changing room but I could crouch behind the counter and change really quickly. She was so nice for letting me do that and I’ll definitely be buying all my souvenirs here.”

“This store offers great products at prices better than many of the neighboring shops. The lower ratings seem unrelated to the store itself and more about external frustrations—possibly something about Ohio or a palmetto tree, which has nothing to do with the store’s quality. The store is clean, the staff is friendly, and the cashier was efficient. Unfortunately, some people leave negative reviews over personal grievances when their expectations aren’t met. Don’t let those reviews mislead you—this is a solid store worth visiting!”
“Not sure why so many negative reviews. I found several Patriot’s Point/USS Yorktown souvenirs and the employees were all pleasant. This is also a great spot if you’re looking for Charleston themed souvenirs as well during your trip. To top it off, they sell some local baked goods at the front including pralines.”
“My mom and I have been purchasing Gullah Gourmet mixes for the past 25 years. We used to love their booth at Christmas Made in the South. Now that our town no longer hosts the craft show, it has gotten harder to find the mixes, but any visit to Charleston means we stock up!”

“Love this adorable boutique in Charleston! Great gifts and unique fashion jewelry to fit everyone’s taste. In person attentiveness is equally matched by their prompt phone customer service for long distance shipments. Can’t wait to receive my bracelet stack ??
When in Charleston, this shop is a must!!!!”
“Such a cute little gift shop! It’s full of fun and unique finds, and the best surprise was meeting Bubba, their talking parrot. You can’t touch him, but he’s super talkative and friendly. Definitely adds to the charm of the place”
“A Maker’s Post is one of my favorite spots on Sullivan’s Island. Their gift selection is always so beautifully curated, thoughtful pieces from local artisans alongside unique finds from around the world. It’s the kind of place where you feel inspired just walking through the door. The back room is especially magical, like a little greenhouse sanctuary tucked away in the shop.
I also have the joy of photographing for them and they’re such a pleasure to work with. Every visit brings something new and I can never seem to leave empty handed!”
