“Amazing how different the same store can be in the same town. This has become my preferred store even though the Food Luon on Wedgefield is closer. This store is so much nicer.”

“Layout is a little odd with meats, sodas, and cheese, but once you do it a few times you get it… overall it’s pretty decent. It’s clean and I have found what I needed everytime. I will say the only downfall is having only 4 self checkouts registers. Sometimes I let people in uniform go ahead of me so I’ve actually stood there for 15 mins letting one go after another. Then, at times, some of the four available don’t take cash or a card and limit options further. Truth be told they could stand to eliminate two registers they don’t use and turn that into 4 more self checkouts and it would be a much better shopping experience. Also, the huge staff counter at self check out just may just offer staff a place to hang out. A smaller podium for that areas oversight might allow for another 2 checkout station there and encourage staff stationed in that position to help open bags, collect baskets, troubleshoot, and assist the lines as most other locations do, instead of hanging out behind a counter, only a 1 sided personal observation, I don’t know the daily ops. Lastly, I don’t mind tipping a bagger occasionally and I do when I make a big trip over a weekend, but I go two or three times a week and I don’t want to spend 50-60$ a month tipping or feeling guilty about not tipping. I often go unemployed for months at a time reestablishing myself tour after tour and I don’t feel guilty in utilizing the benefit of commissaries or being conservative in how I spend and tip. I really hope plans are in motion to upgrade checkout!”
“Please bring back the cheese Danish coffee cake that was recently removed and replaced with the mini ones which are gross BTW. I'll never understand when a store has a very good product and they replace it with one that's not even close to what was awesome. Nobody likes the mini ones, how do I know? Cause they are sitting there untouched.”

“Came to Sumter for a get together with our family and we did our Filipino traditional boodle fight. We ordered few items from them and OMG, it’s the best I had ever had with their BBQ sticks and cassava cake. Honestly, they have the most delicious and most tender Pork BBQ and Cassava cake which we ordered from them. I live in Northern VA but these folks killed it with the stuff that we ordered. If you ever even pass Sumter, take the time to stop here. It’s well worth it. My cousin is now required to bring me those when she comes to see me in Northern VA:)”

“I LOVE this store! I have been to a few Piggly Wiggly stores and this is one of the cleanest stores with friendly staff and good prices. I also love their Deli and am glad that it doesn't shut down early and gives you time to get off work and still get a good meal if you don't feel like cooking. Bravo!”
“Amazing Walmart! Fresh groceries, wide selection, and plenty of parking. They have everything you could need for surviving and great products. I recommend getting the app for navigation in the store and online orders work great, it saves a lot of time to order online and it's very time saving and doesn't cost much.”

“It's a normal convenience store. It has your typical stuff: gas, soda, coffee, food, snacks, lottery, newspaper, and slashes. It has a wide variety of these products. I stop by often when I pick up my son from Lakewood.”
“I’m a returning customer to this location. I’ve never really had any problems here. Staff has always been polite to my family and prices are pretty competitive. Reviewers complaining about low inventory should realize what’s going on across the country with the supply chains before they bash the Dollar General team that works there. Low inventory is a problem everywhere, not just at Sumter Dollar General.”
“My first experience at not only an IGA but THIS IGA and it was great! Everyone was quite helpful from getting my items in my buggy. I was more than thrilled I didn't need to request assistance to my car with both a 30# and a 40# box as it was offered freely. I'd say this was a top-notch organization and look forward to being a customer for many years to come.”

“This dollar general is very clean. Shelving was stocked and labeled correctly. Bathroom was not the cleanest. No toilet paper. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The parking lot was well maintained. Good shopping experience and speedy checkout.”

“I stopped at the store on Hwy 15 N in Sumter, SC. It was real early morning January 5, 2022 & although I didn’t want to stop, I had no choice as my dogs were out of food. My husband had just passed away late the night before. I was a complete mess when I went in there & of course emotionally distraught. My mind was all over the place & there was no way to fight off the tears. I got to the counter to pay & told the young lady to please forgive me as I had just lost my husband. She stopped everything she was doing & ran out to me with open arms & a shoulder to cry on. She held me up when I couldn’t hold it together. She was so genuinely compassionate & caring. She even walked me to the car & gave me a final hug goodbye. I hope you will please recognize this young lady. I found out her name is Brittany & she is no longer at this store but has moved to another store. She is so sweet & caring. You really have a winner with this employee! ?”

“Upated Dec. 4th, 2025 2pm Wow!!! Just left Store # 22505 209 Broad Street feeling like a Millionaire. Got Some great Season Clearance Bargains. Received Excellent Elegant Olde School Customer Service from Empress Elbony Wilson exchange was Professional and Fast as a Senior Citizen (in my 60's) made a Checking Out error she was patience Flashed her Sparkling Smile and said she understood she's the BEST. Store had just what I wanted Big Trash Bags for these Lovely Leaves that are Dropping. Framing Receipt of Treasuries I received. Still Flying High from Dynamite Deals.”

The store had ample parking but they need to paint the lines in the parking lot again the lines on the parking spaces are worn out. But all is well at this establishment will return.”
