“I have to say, since my last post EVERYTHING in the store has changed. Fresh meats and shelf products are at its best. And the customer service has improved greatly! ?”
“High quality hot foods when available, the produce is generally fresh and meats are cheap and of great quality. Groceries are a little bit pricier but is to be expected of a locally owned business. Great place to shop for odds and ends, beautiful selections of plants to add to your garden. Very clean and friendly environment.”
“This location is very nice. The overall layout is pretty much on par with most Food Lions. The men's room could do with a little bit of regular attention, but I must say, as public restrooms go it wasn't bad. Not trying to be a prick at all... I'm just giving an honest review and potential 'heads up' to someone who might have concerns of such information. ?”
“We didn’t need gas, but we did need a bathroom break. We don’t like to use a business’ facilities unless we buy something, so we looked around for something to buy. Lots of snacks, groceries, and accessories to choose from. If it had been later, we would have tried the chicken that looked tasty. We spotted fresh cookies: macadamia nut, chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin. We got one of each for $1.69. Friendly cashier helped me with my cookie selection. They were delicious!!The men’s bathroom needed toilet paper, and another cashier was accommodating with a new roll. Women’s bathroom was fine. Instead of paper towels, there was a hand dryer in each. There was no sign on the door about masks or social distancing, but only a few people were in the store. Patrons wore masks. Employees did not wear masks.”
“No Junk Julie's is a great place to start the healing process of mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness. I highly recommend Julie and Pat as nutritionalist!”
“Went there today to pick up a few things and I made sure to tell the male cashier that this was the BEST Dollar General I have ever been in. It was very clean and everything was put up nicely. Wasn’t cluttered like all the other ones in town have been. I was actually impressed”
“I came into this store back in August. Empty shelves and was a struggle to get any assistance. Walking into the store today, I’m greeted with a smiling face, attentive service and the products I need in the shelves.”
“I had such a great experience here today the cashier was very helpful and she went over and beyond her duties (they should give her a fat raise) helpful sweet and saved me ?”
“The employees were very helpful considering I was Doordashing and couldn't find everything nor could I go far without losing service to my phone! They kindly let me bring the items upfront to get scanned by my phone in the area I had service. So to the employees I say a Big THANK YOU!!!”
“I find stuff I need that I can't always find elsewhere. The people very helpful and friendly. 4 stars cause sometimes it gets a bit hard to get around in the stores.”
“Ever since Randi took over this store it's been amazing. It's clean. She posts sales on her Facebook page. She has an awesome staff who are so nice!! Thank you for everything Randi!!”
“I went to their Walterboro store looking for a paper slicer and got the one I needed right away.
The store had reorganized the placement from what was suggested on their website, but an employee was very helpful, and I got to what I was looking for straightaway!”
“When I think about the places that shaped me, my mind doesn’t just go to the mountains I’ve stood on or cities I’ve visited. It goes home to Walterboro. And in that home, there’s a little spot tucked away on Old Beach Place Road that’s been quietly serving this community for decades: Walterboro Cash & Carry
I remember it through my grandma’s eyes first. She loved that place. To her it wasn’t just a store, it was a treasure chest. Bulk items stacked high, prices that made sense, and the kind of practicality only a seasoned shopper truly appreciates.
She’d walk those aisles with purpose, knowing exactly what she came for, but always leaving with something extra.
As a kid, I didn’t understand the magic of “bulk buying” or why she’d light up when she found a deal on a case of canned goods. But I understood the feeling. The smell of cardboard boxes and fresh stock. The sound of the old door opening. The way the light hit the shelves in the afternoon. It felt like a place where people worked hard and looked out for each other.
Walterboro Cash & Carry isn’t a flashy supermarket. It’s a wholesale grocer, a place where local businesses stock up, where restaurant owners grab supplies, and where families like mine could stretch a dollar without sacrificing quality.
It’s been operating with a small but mighty team, just a handful of employees, yet it’s managed to keep its doors open and its shelves full for years.
In a world where big box chains and online giants dominate, there’s something deeply grounding about a place like this.
It’s not about chasing trends; it’s about serving the people right here. And in Walterboro that matters.
I think about how many small town dreams have been fueled by places like Cash & Carry. The mom starting her catering business. The church stocking up for a fundraiser dinner. The corner store owner filling their shelves.
This building has quietly been part of countless stories, mine included. When I walk in now, I see it differently than I did as a kid.
I sees the value of a business that’s rooted in community, that’s weathered changes in economy, that’s stayed true to its purpose.
I sees the faces of people who keep it running, and I think about my grandma’s smile when she’d load the trunk after a good trip there.
Walterboro Cash & Carry might not make the headlines but it’s part of the backbone of this city.
And in a place where I’ve sometimes felt creativity and ambition can be met with skepticism, it’s a reminder that steady consistent service is its own kind of greatness.
So here’s to the aisles I grew up walking. To the deals my grandma loved. To the small team doing big work. And to a store that’s been quietly keeping Walterboro stocked, supported, and connected for as long as I can remember.
Cash & Carry you’re more than a store. You’re a part of our story.”
