“Quick Glimpse of Downtown Sioux Falls, SD: Charm Amid Construction With a heavy heart, I must admit my visit to Downtown Sioux Falls was far too brief—I was in and out just long enough to handle my obligations before heading on my way. I wasn’t afforded the time for a proper exploration, but even in that limited window, the area left an impression. Here's a fun fact south Dakota use to be the divorce capital of the country. See the pictures. What struck me immediately was the beautiful blend of historic charm and modern development. Classic old buildings stand proudly alongside newer structures, creating a distinctive skyline that speaks to the city’s growth while honoring its past. Sioux quartzite architecture, like the striking Old Minnehaha County Courthouse and other landmarks, adds a robust, timeless feel to the streets. Unfortunately, heavy street and road construction was very evident during my trip, with detours and active sites disrupting the flow—something locals seem to navigate with patience as the city invests in its future.cc2f2f Transportation proved surprisingly pleasant. I took the Sioux Area Metro city bus downtown, and while the fleet includes older models, the buses were impressively clean, reliable, and extremely affordable. The routes are well-designed and get you exactly where you need to go without hassle. For a quick, budget-friendly way to reach the heart of the city, it’s hard to beat.4d63f0 I did manage to pause long enough to snap a few quick pictures capturing the essence of what I saw: the architectural mix, bustling energy, and even the construction zones that hint at exciting changes ahead. This time around, I’ll let those images do most of the talking—they convey the vibrant potential of Downtown Sioux Falls far better than my rushed experience could describe. Overall, even my short stop revealed a downtown with real character—walkable, artsy (with the popular SculptureWalk), and anchored by nearby gems like Falls Park. It’s clear this is a place worth returning to with more time for dining, events, and deeper exploration. Sioux Falls has a welcoming, evolving downtown that promises more than a fleeting visit can deliver. I look forward to experiencing it fully next time”

“The guys at the gun range are great! I came in here for the first time a little over a year ago to film a segment for my TV show, and shot a gun for the first time that day. My friends and I have been coming here to shoot at the range ever since. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and never makes fun of you or brushes you off if you ask them questions. Makes learning how to shoot easy and fun at the same time.”

“Staff were awesome. First of all, we arrived after 10pm when their cutoff time is 9pm and the late night worker worked with us, and even missed our call once and called us right back! Took us in and made us feel welcomed and safe. The house is so welcoming and warm! The free stay and free food and laundry services saved us hundreds! My kids absolutely loved the game room. I definitely recommend the Ronald McDonald house and we are sooooo thankful to have had this luxurious stay at no cost to us during a serious medical appointment.”

“The staff is so kind, and helpful. Everyone has been so sweet to me, and non-judgmental. I know it can be hard to ask for help, but I am so glad I did. I had placed a call to 211, and Furniture Misson reached out to me in November. I scheduled a pick-up for December. I recently moved into my own place, but there was no way I could afford furniture. I am so grateful. I was given the opportunity to pick out the pieces I wanted. I am so appreciative of Furniture Mission. Now my little apt is decorated I have every piece of furniture I wanted and needed for my new home. The gave me so much stuff. I really couldn't believe it. I only had to pay for the Uhaul. Every time I come home, my heart is so full. God is so good, he made a way out of no way. They even let me take home a free bible. Thank you, thank you, Thank you!!”

My two teens now enjoy coming here, more than the mall and the beauty is that not only does it save me money, clothes are reused, rather than going into a landfill. When I'm done with some of the items, I donate. They always need volunteers and donations, because there are so many kiddos in need. If you have anything a child, or an adolescent could use, or would like, don't forget this place as a donation option.”

I mean, have you ever had a TSA agent go WITH you through the security process? That may not happen all the time, but it's an example of the type of assistance they can sometimes arrange.”
