“Set your expectations. Rooms on the first floor are direct parking lot access, like a motel. The second floor rooms are accessed via interior hallway, hotel-style. There is No Elevator. The rooms are an older style and somewhat dated. They are, however, spotlessly clean. The free breakfast is surprisingly good, especially when you realize it includes pancakes, oatmeal, yogurt, scrambled eggs and sausage. Every member of the staff we had contact with was very pleasant and seemed really eager to ensure we had a good experience.”
“Pretty stoked about the preparation for my room.
Been to Waldorf Astoria in NYC and it wasn't any better.
Everything on Point from room perfectly prepared and LUXURIOUS.
Breakfast buffet is unexpected and delicious. Staff is not needed much because they prepared completely for me before arrival.
5 STAR without the price.”

“I have traveled extensively for more than 40 years throughout Europe and the United States, staying everywhere from five-star hotels and bed-and-breakfasts to youth hostels, so I have seen both the best and the worst that accommodations and staff can offer. With that experience, I was genuinely pleasantly surprised to discover such a hidden gem and exceptional value waiting for me upon arrival.
The hotel’s location could not have been more convenient. Local shops were close by, and downtown Spearfish was only a short drive away. It is also very near the Spearfish Scenic Byway, which showcases 19 miles of breathtaking scenery. Even more impressive than the location, however, was the hotel staff. Every interaction reflected professionalism, warmth, and genuine care. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and clearly well maintained, and the breakfast was far better than expected, with a fresh, satisfying selection that made for an excellent start to the day.”

“The rooms were really nice, they seem to be short staffed at the desk. I got checked in and never told what the price was, when I checked out it was $300 when the site says $213. Mini fridge didn’t work and had to ask for a remote for the tv. Cleaning ladies did a great job. They also held our luggage for us till our car got fixed, and let us stay in the lobby.”
“We stayed here in October 2025. Elkhorn Ridge RV Resort is easy to find near I-90, but it sits far enough off the highway that road noise isn’t too bad. This is a very nice campground (CG) with exceptional customer service. The morning of our arrival, the office called to ask whether we wanted to switch sites so we wouldn’t have to move after extending our stay by two days. They recommended Site 71, an end-cap site, and we gladly accepted. We also completed the online pre-check-in, which made arrival quick and simple. We proceeded to pull-through Site 71 with FHUs; the long pad had multiple sewer connection options, which was super convenient, and the utilities were located near the middle of the pad. There’s a nice cement patio and picnic table, and the site was plenty long enough for our 40' toy hauler with the back patio down while still leaving room to park our F450. Campground WiFi was okay at 13.5 Mbps. We had 2 bars of Verizon 5G and 1 bar on T-Mobile, which wasn’t strong enough to support our T-Mobile Home Internet, so we put Starlink on the roof and, with few mature trees near our site, had a clear sky shot and excellent performance. The CG has nice showers, laundry, a dog park, and good walking areas. Overall, this is one of the best private campgrounds we’ve stayed.”
