“Outstanding Service That Restored My Faith in Humanity
I recently visited Pep Boys in Knoxville, TN, and had an experience that truly exceeded my expectations. As a gig economy worker who often travels for my main gig, I rely heavily on our Jeep—our only running vehicle. With my wife and son staying with her family in Kingston, I found myself overdue for an oil change and needing a reliable place to get it done.
Using the CarAdvise platform, I scheduled an appointment here. I was admittedly nervous because CarAdvise offers heavily discounted services, and the shop doesn’t get paid directly through the platform. I’m not entirely sure how they’re compensated, which made me worry they might rush through the work or treat me differently. However, from the moment I walked in, Rachel and the gentleman at the counter completely eased my concerns.
There was no aggressive upselling, just genuine, professional, and attentive service. Despite heavy traffic and an earlier near-accident that had set a negative tone for my day, my experience here turned everything around. The service was quick (just 45 minutes), and the technician handling my vehicle was incredibly kind and professional. The atmosphere was so friendly that I found myself chatting and laughing with the staff, which is rare for me in a corporate auto shop.
When a system issue prevented them from processing the CarAdvise payment (which was no fault of theirs), I was in a bind and couldn’t afford to pay the quoted price directly—though the price was already very fair. That’s when the gentleman at the counter handed me my keys with a smile, wished me a Merry Christmas, and told me to be safe. I was blown away by their kindness and generosity.
This interaction not only made my day but also restored my faith in humanity. For their exceptional service, I would have gladly paid double if I could. I will go out of my way to visit this Pep Boys again, and when we move to Knoxville next year, I look forward to making this my go-to garage.

“A+ Service. Highly recoomend! Trustworthy, ethical and professional. Efficient and effective. A few months ago I found the perfect basic shop truck. A 20 year old Ford Ranger with only 100k miles on it. Only problem was the suspension was totally shot and it needed tires. I took it in to get new tires, struts and an alignment. The shop manager actually grabbed on of his techs from the back and we all went over it in the parking lot together. Once they got into the job the team found multiple issues and informed me immeadiatly even sending me some pictures. They communicated clearly and I felt the price was fair so we got everything dialed in. It drives like a new vehicle. They replaced a bunch of bushings, connectors and stuff and made a huge difference. The allignment is dead on. Everything feels tight and right and I couldnt eb happier with it.
