Hours: African Kingdom is a vibrant business that offers a wide range of African attire, hair braiding, and custom clothing. Visitors often experience a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, with staff who are attentive and eager to assist. The store features a large selection of colorful African clothing, including dresses, skirts, vests with bowties, and other garments, many of which can be tailored on-site by a skilled seamster. Customers appreciate the quality of the materials used and the ability to get unique, tailor-made pieces, often negotiating prices due to high costs. The store also provides hair braiding services, with talented braiders known as the "braid queen," who receive high praise and compliments. In addition to shopping and hair services, African Kingdom offers an authentic taste of Africa through music, singing, dancing, and African musical instruments, creating a lively and cultural environment. The staff, including Hawa and her mother, are noted for their warmth and willingness to help with everything from haircare to clothing and food. Despite some disorganization in the store's layout, the overall experience is positive, making it a popular spot for those seeking African attire, custom clothing, and hair services in Memphis. The combination of quality, variety, and friendly service makes African Kingdom a standout destination for African culture and fashion.
