“AmVets on Elvis Presley Blvd. has been keeping house, fresh paint, new lights overhead, employees pulling old stock to make room for the new/new. They have racks and racks of children's costumes, many NWT, still in packaging. Many ideas for adult costumes that would be FUNctional, as well as thrift and upcycled. With sticky back velcro tabs, a hot glue gun and some gorilla tape YOU can be anything from a Bratz doll to giant ? donut. Hosting Thanksgiving? Need to pull a Martha 'n Snoop? They have many sets of China to mix 'n match and salt and pepper shakers galore, tablecloths and runners for every special holiday. ? ? ?”
“Two convenient locations Memphis and Collierville. Find quality merchandise and your purchase will help build homes for families in need. Great organization to give to and buy from”
“The employees were all SO nice. My daughter and I encountered an employee before we even went inside. She was leaving for the day and greeted us as we walked in and her out. She was so friendly.
My daughter wanted some "vintage" t-shirts and has been asking to go.
The lady at the register was super nice and told me next time to double check what color tag it was for the week because none of the things I got were that color (it is my fault. I didn't know or read the sign st the entrance, haven't been to a Goodwill in years).
The prices were a little steep for some items. The color tag for the week makes them 50% off, but most of the shirts didn't have that color tag anyway.
We ended up getting like 7 shirts, 1 pair of jeans, 2 sweatpants, a Christmas decoration countdown sign, a cute little room plaque, and a roll around metal cart for our hair stuff and spent $60 bucks. Not bad, but most shirts were $6-$7. A few were $2.
Some of the housewares and miscellaneous stuff were a little pricey.
We didn't get a chance to check out the bins.
But we will definitely try and make this a monthly trip, especially with how nice the ladies were - that makes all the difference in where we like to go. I work in a dental office, and people HATE the dentist. I try to make it a fun experience, so at least coming isn't all bad! I really appreciate good vibes in places!”
“This Goodwill is so big bright and clean! After long hard days it feels so good to walk in and see friendly faces and helpful spirits...the variety of everything is such a great experience.. This is why I'm there at least twice a week! Thank you guys for your service to the community! Thank you for EXCELLENT customer service.”
“I absolutely LOVE this store, the staff is great, amazing prices and great items. The only reason that I give it a 4 stars is that there are not dressing rooms and a NO return policy, which makes it difficult tu shop for clothes, even when getting the "right" size sometimes the fit is no the correct one, is disappointing and discouraging to purchase clothes.”
“Kind staff, big space with lots to look through. Really solid mens section which is hard to find sometimes. Friend left with genuine leather vest, suede shirt, necklace and short sleeve button up for less like $40.
Will definitely come back here next time I visit.”
“My kids love thrifting, more than even I do. So they wanted to check out the local thrift stores while we were in Cordova visiting family. We had gone to Goodwill the day before but Salvation Army is a much more pleasant shopping experience.Right when you walk in the door, it’s very aesthetically pleasing. The racks of clothing are well organized by season, style, color and sizes. The racks aren’t packed full where it is hard to look thru. The prices are very reasonable. I did notice some of the items had stains on them and I ended up with an item where the seam has come undone in one place. I didn’t notice when I bought it. There are no refunds or exchanges here so buy accordingly.”
“Super friendly volunteers. This is a more curated thrift store, so prices are not the cheapest. But, they run great sales periodically—worth checking their social media.”
“I've stop by there almost every week sometime twice per week great experience I I bought some of my work clothes from there I loved the price used to be fairly but now it ridiculous..”
“We stopped here during our visit to Memphis. We were greeted at the door and EVERY single employee there was beyond nice and cheerful. We hope to be back. Talk about some very cool vintage furniture pieces too!! Wish we could have taken some of the pieces home.”
“My husband an I visit this location often an I must say this is the cleanest I've ever seen it! Whatever you all are doing keep up the good work! U guys rock!!!”
“Why does the strip along Summer Ave in Memphis TN offer some of the best thrifting in the country? Here's Why: *The inventory assortments are unique and not picked over. They seem to pull from many neighboring states. You'll find old Mardi Gras souvenirs from Louisiana or an Arkansas relic. *The stores are giant and filled, some to an uncomfortable maximum but others just plentiful and sorted well. *There's plenty of help on hand, sorting and stocking constantly. *The shop keepers really care and you'll find creative and fun displays. Such as "Be mysterious, be xoctic [sic] be at my house at 8pm" for the evening dress department. The vintage handbag I purchased (with name "Maggie" etched on handle) had "really cool" written on the price tag where it still remains. *Lastly the prices are almost criminal. Vintage hand bag for $3, two t shirts for $3.20. The stores support great Southern causes such as veterans or farmers. A must when in Memphis!”
“This is our favorite thrift store! There is always an excellent variety of items that changes frequently, and the prices aren't outrageous. The atmosphere is pleasant (LOVE the fun playlist they have in the background), and the employees are always cheerful and kind, even with difficult customers. It's my first go-to for children's clothing (most regular pieces are $1), house and office wares, books, and craft supplies. I can often find vintage, sturdy versions of tools for sewing and baking for pennies on the dollar.
As an teacher, I receive a discount when I show my ID, as do several other groups, like military, first responders and students. I love the causes they support, and funnel my donations there as well. Hands down, our favorite thrift store in the Memphis area.”
