We stepped over a boat cruise and had a reservation for a car for one day. When we took the people mover all the over to the other side of the airport, went upstairs and over to the far side of the parking garage, we were told there were no cars available. I indicated we had a reservation. Well, the girl could have cared less. Our friends traveling with us had a rental through Hertz, so we went to the counter with them to Hertz and were able to secure a rental.

Do not go here! the staff told me they do not honor any reservation, it is just first come first serve. They had no car for us, no idea when we would get a car and when I offered to come back the next day they said they still could not guarantee a car. Wasted way to much of my precious vacation time dealing with their rude staff. Avoid at all costs, it is not worth it.

Can't give them minus 10 stars. so I'll go with one.We made our reservation in June of 2023 When we arrived in Memphis in November 2023 to get our car we were told it would be a 4-5 hour wait. The counter person was rude and booked all reservations for people of color, since we are not in that category we were treated rudely and when my husband stated we have had a reservation for 5 months she very slowly and deliberately said it again... YOUR WAIT IS 4 TO 5 HOURS.. One person standing off to the side, complained that she had been waiting for 2 hours and other people were getting cars. the person at the counter told her to bad you have to go to the back of the line. hearing this, all of us, in line, let her go ahead. At that point we knew we would not get a car so we left. We found out there was a huge Christian conference in town, so cars were not easy to get, but when you make a reservation in advance by 5 months you should have a car. We called Enterprise the next day and got a car from them.We will never ever rent a car from Thrifty again. no support from customer service either.

If it were possible, I would rate Thrifty lower! I made a reservation two week before my trip. Had a confirmation from Expedia. Upon arrival I was told that they had no cars and it would be a 3-4 hour wait. I asked what was the value of a reservation, but did not receive an answer. The attendant took my phone # and said I would be called when a car arrived. 3 1/2 hours later I asked where I was on the list and was told that the attendant had shouted my name, but did not know how to pronounce it. No attempt was made to call me, as stated. I missed a business meeting and did not arrive at my destination until much later than planned. NEVER, NEVER AGAIN!

I had a horrible experience with Thrifty. We arrived to the airport on schedule but when we got to the car rental I was informed they had no cars. I explained I had a reservation and the attendant said I could sit in the lobby and wait until that evening or come back the next day. I explained we MUST have a vehicle. The attendant showed no remorse or empathy for the situation he had put my sister & I in. I discovered two other women sitting & waiting & we asked if they were waiting for a car too. These women had been waiting since 11 am & were told there "might" be a return by 6 pm, they also had a reservation. I then went back to the counter to cancel my reservation & he gave me the 1-800 # for Expedia and said I had to cancel it myself and that he could not. We ended up having to rent a car from another rental company at 3x the rate we were originally supposed to pay. It was the most unprofessional experience I've ever had and I would discourage anyone from doing business with this company.

How does this place remain in business!? Like many others here in these reviews are saying, you are paying for a service that isn't being provided! I would suggest contacting the Bureau of Consumer protection if they are unwilling to reimburse you. Its unacceptable. I arrived to window to be told that no car was available. Be mindful that you've already been charged for the rental at this point. The lady thought it would be at least 6 hours if we were lucky. Who is willing to wait around or return to airport 6 hours later? She didn't know when one would be available and she said she had no way of finding out. I tried calling back this location later in the day and nobody picked up. I was able to get a refund but of course you have to be the one that reaches out to them and not the other way around. Save yourself the stress and irritation that comes from this garbage business.

Horrible experience! They have so few cars in their fleet, but their app and web site keeps taking reservations without cars to fulfill them. Their staff has been reduced to the barest of minimum, expect long waits, rude counter representatives, and don't expect them to honor any pricing, car size or rates. They make it up as they go along. When I finally got a car..... it cost me an extra $25 per day! But wait, there's more. The interior reeked of the strong smell of recently smoked marijuana cigarette. No extra charge for that.

Had car issues and called customer service we're told to come and exchange car. Get to the location, the rep asked my husband what he wants, JUST LIKE THAT, he lets her know the problem and that we have confirmation #s she proceed to tell him she didn't care about that, and where were we coming from (Texas) and she states "yeah we're not doing any exchange" at this point I'm feeling she was being racist. So we contact customer service and found a different solution because the customer service was honestly disgusting. Please take note on the reviews. Customer service didn't suck at Bush int airport in Texas but Memphis location -5 if I could.

Didn't honor my reservation. Made no attempt to provide me with any recourse. Just said "you didn't prepay, so you can just cancel". Left me stuck in the airport for two hours waiting on someone to come pick me up. Absolute trash customer service.

Reservation was not honored. Was told "sorry, it's first come, first serve". Was conveniently offered a higher rate vehicle but not at the original rate - that is, they refused to honor the original reservation price. Asked to speak to manager and that was refused as well. Went over to Alamo counter instead and it was smooth sailing. Read the rest of these reviews, observe the trend, and form your own conclusions. Also, notice the responses to these reviews and how they all say the same thing: "Will forward to local management for review". However, it seems to happen rather often - weekly if not daily.

We had a reservation and had to wait hours before getting our car and almost didn't get one because they ran out. Luckily the employees working were able to get us one. Positive part of the experience was the employees working, Kaylitha and Kiyashi. They are the reason we got a car at the last minute, would've been stranded without them. Thank you ladies so much!!

DO NOT RENT A CAR HERE.Every single time I reserve a car here there is an issue. First time was a 2-hour wait, I had no choice, there were no other cars in the airport. Second time, they closed 5-minutes before I arrived and were like oh well, too bad. Third and last time, I was told 3-4 hour wait. I did not wait and was lucky to get a car at another agency. I have emailed corporate but they do not care. This is their business model, they overbook and oversell and never have enough cars and do not honor reservations.

Would give ZERO stars, but it doesn't allow it. Worst Car rental I've EVER done. The ONLY reason I used them was because of their rates. Stick to Hertz, Enterprise, and Alamo folks. These people are HORRIBLE. My coworker and I BOTH had issues with them. 1st off, they do NOT have the vehicles you book prior!!! Plus they CHARGE higher rates than what was Booked for originally! Very unprofessional, and ONLY had 1 worker on site!!! I Literally got the last vehicle that had, with 6 more people with bookings standing behind me! Then they give you a smaller vehicle for MORE money! I literally live on the road and have rental cars WEEKLY. I will NEVER spend my money with this company EVER again... out of over 100s of Rentals I've gotten traveling for a living, this was by far the WORST experience with a rental car. ANDDDDD you better take pictures of everything, cauze they give you vehicles that are NOT full on fuel!!! But Will attempt to charge you for bringing it back where you got it!!!!!! Plus they will OVERCHARGE you. Beware!!!!!!

Either my jacket magically disintegrated or One of your staff members stole my jacket from the back of my rental after I dropped it off. I left it on the back seat.I submitted a lost and found form very soon after while still at the airport, attempted to call the number listed on your website for the Memphis location but it doesn’t work, called customer service and got hung up on 3 different times and wouldn’t connect me directly to the Memphis kiosk.It’s now been 8 days, no response, case still pending in your status. Obviously it was found and taken or it would have been updated already.Your lost and found page also doesn’t show ‘recently found’ items for the Memphis location so maybe there’s a bigger problem cause it’s highly unlikely people don’t forget anything at that location or your lost and found page is a fake page to pretend like you actually look for your customers lost/forgotten items

Same story as others. Prepaid for a car weeks in advance, show up to the window and no car available without waiting 3-4hrs. It would be more productive to shoot yourself repeatedly in the leg than deal with this dogtrash company.
