“This may sound so ridiculous but I absolutely sobbed my whole drive home yesterday after what I could only consider the single most positive beautiful encouraging shopping experience I’ve ever had in my entire life.
I am going to a wedding out of the country shortly and have gone to about 50 stores in the last month looking for a dress— ideally satin. As a top heavy girly I have had the most miserable experiences looking for a dress that would fit my body, at a reasonable price point, and ideally in an environment where girls would be kind in the process as I have been SO defeated the last few weeks.
On a whim my husband sent me to Lizard Thicket as a Hail Mary a little under an hour before closing. I was met with the most encouraging, genuine staff, who immediately sent on a hunt to find me the perfect dress. I almost dissolved in the fitting room before even trying on the first dress because mentally I did not want to have another defeated experience but the girls were SO sweet, I stepped out in the dress they were so kind, truly the most phenomenal girls I think I’ve ever met.
I ended up finding the PERFECT blue satin dress, it reminded me of the ocean back home, the girls gave me ideas to accessorize and style it, so many encouraging words, and truly made this easily the best clothing experience I’ve ever had in my entire life.
Girls if you ever see this, thank you SO much for taking such a defeating, miserable experience and making it so unbelievably positive, it sounds ridiculous to say this changed my entire day and was a core memory but truly— it was exactly that.

I will be sprinting to Lizard Thicket, specifically this location, for every shopping need I have from here on out 🤍”

They didn’t have my size in store, but went above and beyond helping me find and order them online. Great customer service!”

“I was in Nashville for a soccer game and the day turned out to be rain, rain, and more rain. I couldn't take an umbrella into the game so we stopped by Academy Sports in the hopes of getting a poncho or something. Turns out they had a great selection of ponchos and also some much better rain gear for only a few dollars more that can be used over and over again. I've shopped at several Academy Sports in several states and they've never let me down.”

“On Saturday July 29 2023 (Tax Free Weekend), I saw a white woman, assaulting a black man in the store. He was a manager checking shoes and removing security tags and when he asked for her shoes, she threw them at him! He shouted for her to leave the store, told her to NOT come back and the icing on the cake was when he shouted “I AM NOT YOUR SLAVE”! She didn’t dispute it, because she knew she messed up, she was embarrassed because he called her out in front of a crowded store of 50 to 60 people and she had to do the “Walk Of Shame” from the back of the store to the front door to leave! Her husband was standing by the front door and when the angry woman was explaining to her husband what happened, the black guy shouted “Leave and don’t come back, she threw a box of shoes at me”… he didn’t look surprised at all!!!! She was 100% wrong in what she did and she deserved everything that was said to her by him!!!! He stood his ground. Me, my wife and 3 teenage kids were feet in front of it and saw the whole thing happen from start to finish. I also think she failed to see, that the store has TONS of security cameras and where the incident took place (my wife nudged my arm and had me look up at where the incident took place)… they were under 2 cameras, so I’m pretty sure the company has great footage of her throwing objects. And I’m also sure Channel 2 News and the Mt Juliet Police would love to see how a black man was mistreated and assaulted by white woman.”
