“Even after seeing low-ish reviews for this hotel, I paid attention to the more recent ones and I'm glad I did! This hotel was very nice, very clean and smelled clean too. No bugs... we always check... except this sad little half dead cricket near the bathroom. The pool looked great and I was ready but the weather said nope! The front desk seems to be exclusively manned by the owner (which is fine) and he was very attentive and very nice. The really harp on no smoking, also fine since I don't smoke, and that keeps the place smelling good too. Highly recommend!”

“We've stayed here twice, and both times were good. The second room had more wear and tear, so I hope HIE is staying on top of maintenance. If they do, they'll get a lot more $$$ from us over the next 4 years.
Not all HIE breakfasts are the same. Some have a little extra something that makes them stand out. This HIE had ham at the buffet, which went beautifully with a perfectly-cooked cheese omelette. I always enjoy biscuits and gravy, and the sausage paired perfectly with it. In case you can't tell, we really enjoyed the breakfast here.”
“Came all the way from Florida to stay at this hotel for 5 days. Rooms very clean ,cold ac and good water pressure hot and cold. Beds were comfortable nice clean sheets. People in office were very friendly and helpful.”
“I have stayed at this property many times over the last year for business. The location works great for me, as it is right next to the mall and easy access to get to it. There are several great places to eat around of varying choices in speed, setting, and price. It does tend to getting a little noisy at night, but it's not the hotel, its the traffic outside but its not bad at all just the random jerk with loud sound system or exhaust. The hotel has always been clean and in good repair, I can not ever remember having an issue. The rooms are well taken care of, the a/cs work well, the beds tend to be stiff for my liking (i have back problems) but the pillows are amazing!!! The staff is staff. They do their job with a smile and they are good at their jobs. Housekeeping isn't as friendly as front desk. Front desk will go out of there way to greet you will a smile, and try to assist you. The manager is amazing! Very attentive, I brought up 2 issues on my latest visit, 1 minor and 1 major and she jumped right on both. I definitely would recommend!!!”

“Good location, nice room, and quiet location. An easy walk to the mall after many hours of driving. A few restaurants close by. Friendly and helpful front desk. The breakfast buffet was a little sparse, but fresh food was constantly being brought out. However, we would stay here again.”
“Decent 3 star hotel. For the value, it's excellent! Low price for a clean room! It's still being remodeled, however slowly. This hotel has tons of potential once they find a meaningful way to fill their loads of internal space. Would have been nice to have in-room fridges. Great staff, would stay here again, just wish it wasn't so empty inside.”

“Older hotel with actual keys to the rooms, but clean and quiet. Easy access around town. Great stay. My only recommendation is a little more breakfast choices (a simple waffle would have been great) as there isn't much to choose from.
Rooms: Rooms were clean and quiet. Sheets, blankets, and pillows all felt nice. Chair was comfortable and you could actually walk barefoot on carpet without it being gross like many hotels.
Food and drinks: There isn't much to eat or drink. Breakfast was oatmeal packets, toast, honey buns, coffee, maybe fruit, and yogurt.”

“Ac can't control it. 1980's called they want their ac unit back. Creak in the floor of bath room.
Bed lumpy. Good Will called and want their pillows back.. least the towels are decent, better than holiday inn and choice hotels and mgm.”
“I booked the wrong side of town. But I had such a lovely experience and to tell you the truth, it was very good that I was able to drive around Abilene and drive through Abilene. I went places that I wouldn't have gone. And the staff was great. The breakfast was great. And the pool was indoors.”

“Very quiet stay and will be my choice for my next stay in Abilene, Texas.
The balcony room was extremely comfortable and very quiet and I was able to see my vehicle from my room.
Service was fine, although I did pay for breakfast in my reservation, three different staff members had to confirm I did so before preparing my food. This was a bit cringy but we did eat and it was a fine little meal.”
“I’ve stayed here before but had to come back for training, staff is always welcoming and helpful, the hotel always smells clean and the rooms are nice and spacious. Would definitely recommend this location.”

“The outside will make you think you are staying in a prison. However, the rooms were very clean. The AC worked perfectly, Beds were comfortable, and pillows were nice. The water pressure in the shower was excellent. The breakfast was adequate. Staff was friendly and helpful.”

“We found an affordable rate, we were very impressed how clean room was! We traveled from Atlanta GA & we needed a good rest to continue our road trip and the bed was so comfortable.HOT BREAKFAST WAS VERY GOOD!!! They even had Texas shape waffles my kids definitely want to stop again! The best of all: right on the side of hwy so easy access to continue on the road.

“Overall, it was a great experience to stay here. The rooms were nice with a kitchenette. The continental breakfast was included - better than most other places. The Wi-Fi was my annoyance. There was limited access to Wi-Fi in the rooms - I have to go to the lobby for the other Wi-Fi connection.
Nearby activities: There is Target and a movie theater close by. Mall is within walking distance.”
