Austin Child Guidance Center provides vital services for the growth and development of children in Central Texas that not only benefit the families they directly work with but our whole community. They are committed to providing access to quality mental health care to all children and their families and they provide different support and programming for the adults who closely work with children in early education settings. All staff are welcoming and caring and I highly recommend them!

ACGC helped me and and my husband learn new skills and strategies to understand and parent our child with ADHD. They provided great information and support over 6 weeks and really helped our family reduce stress and make sure we felt like we knew what we were doing. I would definitely recommend ACGC to parent if they are struggling to help their children and maintain a happy home environment.

ACGC is in a league of their own. They are the only true experts in helping children and families get thru traumatic events. Going on 75 years, they have an amazing reputation and are there for all communities; insured or not; have money for therapy or not. Put your kids and families in ACGCs hands and help them truly move on from whatever they’ve experienced, in a healthy and happy way.

I signed my daughter up for therapy. She was assigned a therapist which we had one session with. The schedule ended up not working for us so requested another day. We were told by the therapist that she had one possible day. I responded to the email saying that new day would work then was told it was no longer available (after waiting 2 days for a response). I then called, emailed intake to get a different therapist. After multiple emails and calls to get an update, didn’t get one until THREE weeks later. When she finally called, I expressed my dissatisfaction with how long it had been taking, she just jumped right into “availability”. no apology about the delay in follow up, no care at all. I would understand if they were waiting for slots to become available, but an update much sooner than three weeks would have made a whole lot of difference especially if I’ve reached out numerous times. Don’t go here, they don’t care that your child needs help and support.

Proceed with caution if you are needing neuroaffirming care and support for your child.

Too many phone calls to get through to someone. Too many phone calls asking why no one has called back. Too much time spent punching numbers and listening to recorded messages. Too much time spent waiting for a call back. In the meantime, a child needs help. No sense of urgency; no empathy.

I brought my son here several years ago. I loved the staff, the counselors, their hearts, the support, the way they worked with my child and I highly recommend anyone who needs to bring their child here.

Absolutely do not recommend this place!! They don’t give your child a chance or offer any help to them! They claim they are all about support and assistance to families but all they do is assume after ONE visit and then call CPS claiming they are a danger to others when all my son has is ADHD!! I will never get my child help here again!
