“When you actually need help to find the right bolt and matching lock washer, skip the Big L and Orange Box and go to McCoy's. Refreshingly knowledgeable people helped me with those bolts and solved my challenges with building nesting boxes for my chickens. My husband has been going there for years and now I will, too. “What a special place and person. She’s very dedicated in the cultivation and care of several species of running bamboo, and her pricing is great too. I had a great experience selecting some choice pieces for my fukuro shinai. She hand cuts all her pieces with a nice Japanese back cut saw.
An important note too is that if you need green bamboo, brand new out of the ground, she’s the best game in town. Anything you buy online will almost certainly be kiln dried, which for some applications is not ideal. Here, even the dry pieces will have dried naturally.”
“What a great place to buy supplies for your home. I was looking for parking curbs to put in my garage. We have an SUV that barely fits and wanted to protect the front wall from damage. McCoy's had exactly what I needed. They delivered my curbs for FREE the same day! The delivery guys even helped me out and putting them in position. What great service! “I was a little intimidated at first, being a total newbie with hardwoods but one of the reps took me under his wing and showed me around the warehouse and explained how everything worked. So I fumbled my way around and picked my wood, got processed and loaded into my car. They were kind enough to cut the longer pieces to fit in the back of my sedan. It was a learning experience for me but I left the place with a massive smile on my face and some pretty cool wood for my project.”

“What a great experience! I stopped in today to pick up some stainless steel nuts. I described the application that I was using them for (holding on an exhaust manifold) and the extremely knowledgable, good-humored, and lovely young woman recommended stainless / nylon lock nuts, while dismissing lock washers as junk. She educated me about galvanized vs. zink plating, how the nylon locking do-hickey worked, and I walked out the door with exactly what I needed in under 5 minutes. In an era where big box stores with commoditized customer service, it's refreshing and reaffirming that the craft and care of "the hardware store" is alive and well at Fastenal. The selection is excellent, and the prices are reasonable. I look forward to the next time I need hardware.”
