Butler Metro Park is a great and fantastic park in the heart of Texas, right in the middle of it all and the southern downtown area of Austin. It is a huge, awesome, and very well planned out area with something for everyone, giving serious European vibes. It is a fantastic spot for families with toddlers and small children, featuring a wonderful and thoughtfully designed playground. The playground has great slides and climbing structures, including rock climbing walls, a rope playground tower, swings, musical instruments, and slides built into hills. There are sandy play areas and fun fake grass hills to explore. The equipment is in great condition as it is a new park. The park is next to Lady Bird Lake Loop and has trees and plush grass, though it needs more trees and shade as it can be very hot. It is a clean and well-maintained space, with an onsite bathroom that is adequate and clean. The people are friendly, creating a great sense of community. It is a dog-friendly place with many walkers and runners. However, visitors note the challenge of finding parking and the occasional presence of homeless people in the park.
