Our truck was in great condition. Process was very easy! Kim was especially helpful and understanding working with me after a minor hiccup on my part.

Made the exact reservation at this location that we made the week prior at a different location (pick up and drop on same days of the week), but this location charged us more than $60 more than we were charged on the previous reservation. Manager had a bad attitude - not customer service oriented at all. Really disappointing.

I rented a truck to move 3.5 miles away. When I returned the truck they tried to say that I traveled 109 miles and charged me for that. It’s highway robbery. They refused to help. Straight up thieves

I regret not choosing a different location from the start when the GM, Frances, stated they couldn't match my reservation price. But, it was raining and I just wanted to get my moving done. I strongly advise against visiting this location, as there are several better options in the area. Furthermore, I found the GM to be condescending, stating, "because she’s the GM, she can choose to help or not," when I attempted to resolve extra charges.

I moved across country to the Austin area and I tried to add a zip code for my move so that my U-Boxes were stored at a facility with good ratings since I didn't know my new home address yet. It looks like despite that, they sent them to this Research Blvd facility that I was trying to avoid after seeing the poor reviews others had given. The boxes were picked up on 1/13 from my starting location. Access to my U-Boxes were estimated to be almost 2 weeks after delivery to Austin with 1 month storage included. I had no problem with that since I couldn't find an apt that would hold the place for me for 1 month without additional fees. The 1 month storage gave me time to find the right place. 1 week after delivery of my boxes to Austin, I found a place to live.I planned a move-in date and to have my U-boxes delivered for the week after that, so that I would be moved out of the Uboxes prior to 2/13 since did not know when my 1 month of included storage technically began. There were no dates given to me from U-haul. Was it before or after delivery? However, there was rainy weather on 2/10 and the entire weekend so my movers refused to pick up my U-boxes. I had no choice but to deliver my U-boxes to my home on 2/12. I promptly scheduled them to be picked up from my home the next day bc I didn't want them in my possession longer than necessary. On 2/12 Research Blvd sent me invoices for rental charges, but I thought that was an error because I figured a scheduled return of the Uboxes would stop charges. I didn't see any charges to my card and my move out of the U-boxes went as planned that day.On 2/13, I was charged, so I called them immediately. They explained to me that I wasn't moved out until the boxes were delivered and that was when my move out began. She saw that they were scheduled for move out that day and asked if I needed help with anything else. I asked about a refund since I wouldn't be storing or using the boxes from 2/13-3/12. The lady who worked at Research Blvd put me on a hold for 5 mins, then came back and informed me they would process my refund after the boxes were back in their possession.I thought the conversation was done there, but her tone quickly changed and she went on to reprimand me saying "If you plan to ever use the moving and storing at Research Blvd again in the future, you need to plan your move out at a better time because this will not happen again. We do not normally refund anyone if their rental period has begun so you will need to be moved out days prior. I'm just letting you know."I literally moved across the country and did my best to move out in the 2 weeks I was alloted access to my storage/Uboxes. After a stressful move, I do not appreciate getting a lecture from the service agents here. After this treatment, I will tell any and everyone to stay FAR away from Research Blvd if they need any moving service.Everyone at U-haul was kind to me every step of the way of my move, it would have taken the service staff at Research 5 seconds to see my rental history over the last month to see everything I have been charged (over $5k) and all of the cancellations and orders I've had to make this last month for this move and to be kind about it. Those of us who are charged for service we didn't use will just have it disputed with our credit card companies, so why she decided to rant on me, I do not know.I suggest anyone to have the U-Boxes delivered straight to your home instead of storing in Austin Research Blvd at all. They are treating your Ubox delivery like a regular storage unit here and expect you to give them direct notice of your move out. Scheduled deliveries/pick-ups made with U-Haul do not count for notice and you will be given a non-refundable charge, according to this staff member. I was not made aware of any of this prior and honestly, if that is the case, Research blvd should have sent me a leasing notice informing me of their storage policy as soon as they came in possession of the U-Boxes.

The truck was an old truck with markings on the sides. I had to pay $10 extra gas because the tank wasn't full when I took it out. The engine was guzzling gas faster than any other truck I've driven. Seemed like it was rigged or needed servicing. Here's the pic of tank when I took it out and when I filled it up.

I was force to go to drop off at location even though there is a U-Haul much closer. I called the 1-800 & told them my concerns driving this far in icy conditions. Returned my truck 2 days early to avoid worsening conditions. Missed their 5pm closeting by a few minutes, again there’s a U-Haul much closer to me & was charged an extra $20 for using the drop box. I won’t be using this location again & if this is U-Hauls policy, I will use another company.

Very terrible and that’s why. I rented a trailer from this location, and the female asked me how long you need it for I said one day but I also told her that I’m moving one equipment that will take me an hr so I’ll probably be back same day to return it. She automatically put me down for 4hrs I didn’t care because it’s the same price anyway. I got delayed on what I was doing and I didn’t make it back before the 4 hrs mark but keep in mind I still made it back same day so they charged me double. Now I went back to the location 3 day later to rent another trailer to that that equipment back I also asked for a manager so we can civilly fix this and she was very rude didn’t listen to what I was say at all and assumed that I was late I said what made you assume I was late she said that I told her so I said that never came out of my mouth so she looked like I’m a piece of garbage and told me well it’s loud in here and I couldn’t hear what you were saying in my head I know she just an ignorant because if you didn’t hear what I said why you opened your mouth and said anything other than I’m sorry I missed that part it’s loud in here could you repeat that but no instant she just assumed something is not true. Any how she said I will look at your account and I will get back to you in the end of the day. That was yesterday and I haven’t heard from her back but I got a third charge for the yesterday rental. I have always done business with U-Haul but it has never been this terrible. I’m not saying don’t rent from U-Haul just don’t waste your time and money at this location.

Save yourself the time and rent somewhere else. Staff is cool, just dealing with too many people at the same time wanting immediate assistance. People driving and leaving parked moving trucks in the narrow drive way. Open doors parked far from the curb.Recommend going elsewhere.

This was my first time renting a U-Haul online. It was quick, helpful, and very pleasant. I will certainly continue to use this app! The staff who helped me at the location was also very helpful.

The worst location to rent!! The manager is incredibly rude and they will try anything to take more money from you even if is not what they explained originally. Cero costumer service from her! I see what the other reviews are talking about. Is not about the $10 or $20 or $30 extra is the rudeness and the cynicism. Talking about legal stuff when she has an unsigned contract, doesn’t make any sense and then she tore the paper in my face!! You’re better off at another location if you want to avoid a HORRIBLE SERVICE FROM THAT LADY that can barely call herself a manager.

When I picked up my rental there was only one person working and so I have to wait about 30 minutes before being helped. Finally a gentleman came to help and he was extremely nice and helpful if I had to rate my service with him it would have been excellent. Since my pickup was late in the day he told me as long as I followed the instructions to drop of my vehicle after hours I would not be charged. He did not mention anything about me picking up 30 minutes late because of my wait. Exactly 2 minutes after I was scheduled to drop of the vehicle Francis was blowing up my phone. She was very rude and condescending. She answered the phone with "you were supposed to drop off at 6:30 is there a reason you are not back now." I told her I got my vehicle late because I had to wait. She went on to say well according to your contract you are supposed to be back so I have to charge you another $36. I told her the gentleman who helped me told me as long as I check it in I would not be charged and she proceeded to say well according to your contract, did you read it. She was very rude and not understanding. It was UHAULs fault that I got my vehicle late and there should have been a grace period. For that reason I will NEVER come back to this location and I will warn others of how rude and unprofessional Francis is.

If I could give a negative review I would. The storage units are RAT INFESTED! They are fully aware of the problem and have zero remorse for the loss and damage of your items. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. The staff is rude but it’s because they are over worked and the general manager, Karen is useless IMO. Don’t rent here. I had problems with my reservation from the start.

My experiences with the staff were positive. However, this location was by far the worst U-Haul experience I have had. The employees are overworked, there's not enough parking, the wait times are criminal. IMO, the location is set up to serve a third of the customer volume it does.

For having just the one Store Manager (also bilingual) taking care of everybody in line, she was doing an excellent job keeping that line moving on a busy Saturday morning! And also A+ keeping it friendly and informative, and giving out helpful reminders to renters. I had stopped at another UHaul before this one and half of the team was NOT very friendly at ALL, which really soured the vibe of the place.I had to switch from another UHaul day of and was so exited they had a van available. A gentleman worker was also kind enough to show me how to turn the parking break off went I kept missing the little sign explanations, haha whoops, but was very friendly and immediately came over to help me which was GREAT!The truck itself ran smooth with full blast A/C. I was a little confused because this was my first time renting a van vs a 10x10 or higher truck, as it did not have the little inspection to start, you just GO! (Which is honestly SO convenient haha)The only issue was I thought I had planned it for 15 hours but ended up only booking it for 12, and once I realized I went on the app and it said you can extend your rental (which maybe has a fee). This is a complaint against the app, and I was really hoping it would show the total additional cost before agreeing to extend. It ended up being $20 which is absolutely worth it, I am just frustrated by my own mistake GAH!!Also, again probably my phone issue instead of UHaul's, but I wasn't able to do the more thorough check out as the app kept spinning and not loading the page. HOWEVER, there was another option, WHEW, which was very informative and I was super grateful about that!All-in-all great service, friendly employees who were utilizing every moment, clean, easy to use (once u got the hang of it ;) controls and driving, and I LOVED the fact that you can click the doors locked on these (regular car type after all!) instead of having to deal with a rolling door every time, for time/strength/security. I was able to move nearly my whole storage in just one go, and has ZERO issues moving a Queens mattress and frame.Thank you very much!
