Zilker Botanical Garden, a 28-acre oasis located in the heart of Austin, Texas, is a unique collaboration between the City of Austin Parks & Recreation Department and the Austin Area Garden Council. This lush, interconnected garden showcases themed areas such as the rose, herb, and Japanese gardens, complemented by streams, waterfalls, and Koi-filled ponds. The Hartman Prehistoric Garden even recreates a local dinosaur habitat. Open to the public year-round, the garden attracts over 100,000 visitors annually, including thousands of school children from the surrounding communities. Visitors can explore the well-maintained pathways, enjoy the beautiful scenery, and discover the garden's diverse plant species. While the garden may be less lush in the winter months, it is a popular destination for those seeking a peaceful escape in the city. The garden is a versatile venue, offering multiple spaces that are perfect for creating memorable experiences, such as marriage proposals. With its picturesque beauty, Zilker Botanical Garden continues to captivate and delight visitors of all ages.
This is about as of season as you can get (late January), but we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Such beautifully done gardens melted with local history and natural history. Absolutely worth a visit.

Was looking for a place to waste some time and ended up here by accident. It was also in January, so not a lot of foliage, but it did make me want to go back and see it in the spring or fall. Nice pathways, pretty area, worth the few dollars it cost.

Great garden to visit with family. Bigger than it looks. Look for free entrance days.
