“The Walmart Auto Care Center at the University Drive Super Walmart in Edinburg is located on the left (east) side of the building, toward the back behind the garden section.
The Auto Care Center offers tire and battery sales and installation, wiper blade replacement, oil changes, oil and air filters, headlight restoration, and related services.
I visited for an oil change. As I drove up, an attendant came to my car, directed me to the back of the line, gathered my information, confirmed the type of oil I wanted, entered everything on a tablet, and took my keys. I immediately received a confirmation text message, which also included a link to the app where I could monitor the progress of the service.
After turning in your keys, you can enter a small, basic waiting room with a few comfortable seats. The waiting room connects directly to the main Walmart store, so you can shop while you wait.
If you do shop, it’s best to avoid frozen items since you’ll need to check out at the front and bring your cart back around to the Auto Care Center, where there is a designated place to park carts near the service bay. Another option is to continue shopping until your vehicle is ready and then take your purchases directly to your car behind the service bay.
When I arrived, two cars were already in the service bay, and one car was ahead of mine in line. From check-in to completion, the total time was just over an hour.
There are certainly places that offer faster oil changes or more comfortable waiting areas, but Walmart’s price is significantly lower, and the staff I interacted with were friendly and helpful. I also appreciated being able to monitor the service through the app, text updates, and the service bay window. Based on my experiences, they have consistently done a good job.”
