3848 Main Ave, GrovesMaria's is our breakfast spot! We drive the 60+ minutes from Lake Charles to this quaint diner in Groves, TX. Why? Because of the chilequiles! There are three sauce options: red, ranchero, and green. Every single one is great, but green is my new favorite because it is a tomatillo based green sauce, not cilantro (I'm one of the unfortunate soapers). Ask for the extra hot green sauce (beware: it requires a dose of respect), add an over easy egg and you've got breakfast perfection. There are places in Lake Charles that identify chilequiles on their menu, but they don't know what the heck they're even talking about. Maria's does! Additionally, the staff is so incredibly friendly and accommodating. My husband and I became recognized guests after our first visit. This place gets really busy on the weekends so plan accordingly, but definitely add it to your regular stops!

3900 Pure Atlantic Rd, GrovesFirst time there today. Ordered a chipped beef Barbecue sandwich. It was great! No fatty bits, and bun was fantastic. Only asked for onions and pickles, and one of the best I've had in the area.
