Terrible.
I got off the plane and shuttled to the Hertz location with a reservation. They say they have no cars and it could be a 3-4 hour wait. It blows my mind. I will never rent from them again.
If they would just have a car that fits my reservation I would be happy. Everything else is lip service.

I have rented at HERTZ at Houston Hobby Airport 3 times now and each time has been a very frustrating experience! I have the rewards program with Hertz, so my pick up expectations should be pick up a vehicle and go! The first time was not this way, had to goto the desk (20 min wait) but this last rental the systems were down AGAIN and waited over an HOUR! the second rental I was able to pick up vehicle and leave however the maint light was on - my mistake by taking the vehicle but they expectation is that Hertz actually takes care of their vehicles! Window washer fluid and THREE Quarts of OIL later (that is $70 of oil I provided for Hertz) - I am not likely to continue renting due to the bad experiences at HOU airport. Including a few at Minneapolis Airport! Off to find a better experience....

When you pre-pay to reserve a car, the company has one important job: have the car. I arrived on the shuttle bus with 3 other groups of people, and they had one car on the lot. I was second in line, and only had to wait a little, as someone returned one while I was there; though I had to wait for it to be cleaned. By the time I left, there were 8+ groups of irate people who had reserved cars and their cars weren't there. Cannot recommend!

My rental experience was pretty good, the jeep was nice, check out was pretty quick, return was easy, but make sure you take a photo of the fuel gauge when you drop it off, I was charged $30 because, they said I didn’t fill it back up with fuel even though I left it full, so I had to chat with someone about it and only after I told him I had a time/date stamped photo of the fuel gauge did they credit me back, so make sure you photo the gauge.

The attendant stopped me from leaving because he gave my pre rented vehicle to someone else. They advertise to hold your vehicle for an hour after your appointment and my flight was 20 minutes delayed, which they knew because they had my flight info. He was rude, unprofessional, and refused to explain why the vehicle I reserved was being given to someone else, despite me being a gold member and the car being in the area for me to pick it up. He deserves 0 stars. The girl at the gate was much better and she deserved 5 stars, as did the e return attendant and the shuttle driver. But that initial confrontation really hurt the image.

There were -0- vehicles so no one getting off the airport shuttle got a car although they had been reserved

The staff did their best and were professional, but the company and its technology need a great deal of help. We reserved a car weeks in advance, entered all requested information, including uploading personal information to be able to skip the counter. Arrived on tight schedule with a deadline to meet, and found there was no car available and no options but to wait until one showed up or cancel and try to find another one. We waited and a car finally appeared; the staff seemed to be doing their best to get us on the way but when we went to leave the lot the gate agent directed us to return to the desk to correct outdated information, adding to the delay. Apparently their technology can flag you for outdated info at the exit gate, but not when you schedule your reservation, or enter your documents, or even when you meet an agent at the counter. Someone needs to upgrade the technology.

As a Presidential Circle member, this was by far the worst Hertz experience I’ve ever had.
I had a reservation for 10, yet when I arrived there were zero cars available in the President’s Circle or Gold lots. I was told my vehicle was “in the back” and had to go inside to the counter. While checking out, they gave my vehicle away to someone else.
They scrambled to find another car, but insisted it had to go through the wash first. While in the wash, the tech managed to pop the tire—making that vehicle unusable. At this point, Hertz had literally run out of cars.
After waiting even longer, they eventually brought me a Tahoe (I had reserved a standard SUV), but it was in terrible condition—the driver’s side door handle was missing. That was the only option they would offer me.
For a loyalty member with a confirmed reservation, this entire process was unacceptable. Hertz Houston completely failed to deliver on even the basics of a reservation.

I reserved a vehicle with Hertz more than three weeks in advance. Upon arriving at Houston Hobby at approximately 10:30 PM on Friday with my wife, the Hertz shuttle driver informed us that no vehicles were available, despite our confirmed reservation. We were presented with the options of securing alternative rental services or waiting an estimated two to three hours for a vehicle to become available. This experience reflects a significant deficiency in customer service, causing considerable disappointment.

Made a reservation here and they said they “ran out of cars” when they really gave a car to another customer that had just taken our reserved car. They told us to come back in the morning, and were completely unprofessional. Do NOT come

The agent lied about the gas rates being averaged for the area, I explained that I'm a rewards member and didn't realize booking through AAA would have an impact on that, he had no interest in working with me to get it corrected, he then went and got a car that hadn't been cleaned, it was so bad, I had to take it to the car wash myself and clean inside and out. He acted like he was doing me favor by being there. Very arrogant.

Fast and easy customer service led to our vehicle. Pretty nice 2025 Jeep Wrangler which was very spacious and clean absolutely loved it because as a tall man I thought it would've been a little tighter in space. Props to the bus drivers commuting us and helping out with luggage. Thanks Hertz team.
