“I do like the new building renovation. I do feel like the fruit and vegetable section should be bigger, but other than that everything else was very easily accessible. All the brands that I can't find anywhere else is what I really appreciate.”

“Always so kind and helpful at this DG store. This is my favorite DG. Why? Because they stay open until 10pm nightly - an hour later than the other DG stores in this area, they have an excellent selection of craft items, always stock Barq’s root beer for the best price I’ve found - $1.50 for 2L bottle or $2.50 for two 2L bottles! And again, the staff here is always kind and helpful.”
“This store is great! Not only is the staff friendly ,they are also very helpful. This store has pretty much everything one could want or need between major store runs or on short notice. If they do not have it they will try to stock anything you request as long as it is in their system. I love going to this little store and being able to get what I need and want. Also,the chicken tenders here are awsome!”
“While visiting family in October, we went shopping downtown. The White Peacock was a real treat and one of my favorites. The store was fun and inviting, and the gentleman was very knowledgeable. I remembered all the fun and yum at Christmas and wanted to send a gift box to my dad in Washington state. I called, and after telling Emma what I had in mind, she made some suggestions and went out of her way to put it together, package it up, and ship it out. She went above and beyond, exceeding my expectations! It was a hit with dad, who said I knocked it out of the park. It’ll be tough to top next Christmas! Thank you Emma!”

“My wife and I needed a protein for dinner so we stopped in to my favorite grocery store for meat sales - Brookside Brothers - while we were in Lufkin. I can rarely find the variety on deeply discounted meats anywhere else - including HEB. Their excellent prices don't stop there. As I walked the Isles I found myself throwing cheese, milk, flowers, and freshly bagged plump grapes into my cart. Unfortunately I didn't make it to the friendly check out employee on this trip as my wife suddenly became upset with me for a reason still unknown, and walked out of the store. I followed - choosing not to take her departure for granted - even though I wanted to keep shopping. We had reached our destination and my favorite - as well as our reason for stopping in - the meat section. Thank you Brookside Brothers for putting my grocery's back on the shelf. I apologize for the inconvience. Service with a smile with a well stocked and clean store every time I visit. They must know I'm coming. That's more than I can say for their popular - and for good reason - competitor a block away. - HEB. I'm sure to be back in Lufkin from Chireno soon Brookside Brothers. See you then, and hope to make it all the way to the check-out line. (Maybe I'll leave my lovely wife at home).”

“Great service, friendly staff plus they serve SubWay and Pizza. Although there are 4 gas pump there isn't enough room for more than 2 cars at any given time to get gas. Being outside the city limits on HWY 103E their prices are lower and more reasonable than other stores around Lufkin.”
“This location is always cluttered. Hard to locate items. Cashiers are not always friendly. However, they are in a busy location and it can be overwhelming for a young or new cashier. Overall, its dollar general and it is convenient to grab what you need vs shopping a 10000 sq ft big box store.”
“There are a lot of goods, but expensive - about the same as our 24-hour stores, only with more choice. Maybe you can compare it with a magnet or a fiver, but in America there are cheaper stores, for example, Dollar tree”

“I have been to Dollar General stores in many states and all over Texas. This is the nicest one I have ever been in. It offers so much in one store. I met Mabel a store employee who was super sweet and helpful. I didn't get the name of the cashier , but she was just as kind. I will definitely go out of my way to shop at this store.”

“Lots of high quality, store branded items. The store is clean with broad aisles and good organization. The only drawback is that there are fewer name brand products available at HEB. This isn't necessarily a real problem because they do have many of their own branded products but if you go there looking for a specific brand item they may not have it. This is true especially if you are looking at produce, milk, eggs, bacon, cheese, etc.”
