Shady Villa Hotel is a gorgeous, sprawling place right in the center of town, perfect for a weekend getaway. The rooms are beautiful, very large, spacious, and renovated beautifully, with charmingly simple decor. They offer lots of privacy, as each room has its own entrance, some with private balconies or a terrace. Guests find the rooms comfortable, with top of the line bedding, Saltillo tile floors, and the best shower ever. The grounds are great, with a lovely and quiet pool area, a poolside bar, and cornhole boards. It is located within walking distance of a local park and a local brewery. Some guests note the absence of amenities like a microwave and refrigerator in the rooms. The hotel has a bar and restaurant, but they were unfortunately closed during some visits, as the dining area is under renovation. While the rooms are clean overall, occasional cleaning oversights are mentioned. The exterior can be a tad creepy at night, and some better lighting by the room entry doors would be wonderful, though the original light fixtures are fabulous. The staff are super helpful and sweet. Many guests love this place and plan to stay here again, recommending it for its great spot and beautiful rooms.

The rooms are really nice with a patio and a mid-century vibe. Very laid back and quiet, even with being close to i-35. The courtyard has lots of big trees, with walking paths and a dry creek that leads to nearby Salado Creek where you can swim. The restaurant is excellent, too!
