My wife and I were in San Marcos this past weekend for our daughter's Master's graduation and boarded our 4month old Mini Bernedoodle puppy, Lincoln, with Southpaw K9 over the weekend. First nights he'd ever spent away from us, and honestly we were more worked up about it than he was.
Amy texted me first thing Saturday morning with pictures and a real update before I ever had to ask. He'd been on a walk, he ate really well, and he was happy. She told me he had a lot to say in his apartment (thats what they call their Kennels) that first night before he settled down and slept straight through. I got updates like that the whole weekend.
The part I appreciated most is that they paid attention to who he actually is. Lincoln is young and still unsure about other dogs, so instead of putting him out with the group they kept him in the puppy kennel up by the house where there's less noise and activity and he thrived !
Lincoln also got groomed while he was there (Velvet Paux was onsite!) . I was nervous a bad first grooming would create problems for us down the road, and Ryan just told me he'd make sure it didn't happen. It didn't. Lincoln came home looking fantastic and we got a report card on how he did.
Finally, we also got back into town earlier than planned and asked if we could grab him ahead of schedule. No hesitation, no hassle.
Lincoln came home happy, tired, well fed, and completely himself!!
Again, we can't recommend Southpaw K9/Ryan and Amy enough ! They were just amazing to work with, and their facility/Campus is AMAZING!!! Super excited we found a place for our puppy to grow up going to !

Ellis County Pet Resort

The facility is also very clean and organized which is much appreciated. The staff are also very nice and welcoming. 10/10 definitely recommend to anyone with a furry friend!

This place is the real deal for authentic Mexican food like grandma used to make!! I tried 3 different tacos and all were excellent! Very flavorful and made fresh to order. I highly recommend this location if you’re looking for some authentic Mexican food. FYI, they recently were recognized as an amazing restaurant in Waxahachie for outstanding reviews and service. The plaque is hanging above where you order. GO GET YOU SOME! You will not be disappointed.

The library room with floor to ceiling books, chandeliers of all shapes and sizes from around the globe and vintage furniture makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a Parisian Club in the 1920’s. They have everything your heart could want and then some from cowboy boots, glassware, linens, books, candles made locally and on and on. The Art-UNREAL! I can’t say enough amazing things about this jewel tucked into the quaint Waxahachie downtown square area. It’s a MUST see!! You will fall in love❤

We ordered The Pig and the Preacher pizza and it did not disappoint. The crust was light and fluffy, it was loaded with toppings, and the BBQ seasoning had the perfect sweet and spicy kick. We tried a drink combo the staff recommended—Bishop Cider Crackberry mixed with Southern Roots Blue Dragon—and honestly, I could’ve drank a whole keg of it! I definitely recommend checking this spot out if you’re ever passing through Waxahachie.

They also always have an interesting seasonal item or two off menu. Low key it does seem more like an underground coworking space just due to the seating diversity. Hang outside with a friend or study mate on the large front porch with swing or have a warm latte in the dining room with couch. There’s also a “library” esque space upstairs which typically seems to be a bit quieter. All rooms have nice views of the tree lined historic downtown area. I also suggest trying some of there other locations as each delivers its own unique experience.
