“Banana Stand is the place to go for a super friendly amazing experience. The owners run the store and are always present when shopping in store. “I initially started going to Pure Barre in 2018. I was running but got some knee pain and needed to strengthen my hips. I heard barre was good for it so I gave it a shot. Well it worked, and 6 half marathons later I still love taking classes as much as ever.
What I also got, which I didn’t expect, was my village. I was new to Vermont and through barre have built a strong support network of friends, including many other moms that I have relied upon and have become some of my closest friends.
Full disclosure - I loved it so much I became a teacher there a few years ago. Best decision ever, it’s just as amazing and supportive behind the scenes as it was when I was not a teacher and just taking classes.this place really is special 😀”

I chatted with the owner who showed me more lovely high-quality pieces and I wanted everything. She was so kind and helpful and I enjoyed my time speaking with her. She was so passionate about the store and the brands she carried.
Selection was great and the pieces were well curated and perfect for a capsule wardrobe. If I lived locally, I’d be at this shop quite often. A must stop if you are in town.”
“A great spot to stop in and pick up some catamount gear, state stickers and even some local VT maple syrup store is usually pretty quiet and no one bothers you so take the time to walk through and definitely grab a few souvenirs! It’s also right on church street parking free on Sundays !”

I brought in a decade old jacket with a broken zipper, Jim identified the exact model immediately at a glance and had it fixed in 5 minutes. So nice to have repair service available locally.”

“A very nice store, clean friendly staff, its connected to vermont bear store and theres a different variety of things from shirts pants robes scarves blankets tote bags they do have some items currently 20% off but im not sure how long the sale will last. They are a bit on the pricey side around $80 for a flannel shirt but it is a very soft comfortable flannel shirt and it never is a bad thing to treat yourself to something nice sometimes. Its not a huge location but its easy to get to easy to shop in and with friendly helpful staff easy to like. I dont live in vermont but had to come here because I do love my flannel shirts and now I got 1 just from vermont. 🥰”

Although I didn't physically go to the store, she offered an incredibly high level of customer service and hospitality. FWIW - I first called and emailed their corporate CS, which was a terrible experience. Elle at Burlington Hatley took care of everything promptly and professionally - again, unlike their corporate CS. Highly recommend everyone seek out Elle! “Come for the curation, not for prices.
Like others have said, the prices are not comparable to other cheap thrift stores that run on donations. There's vendors who then probably pay the actual store, so a couple of layers of middlemen who eat into the price.
Older gap t-shirts are like $50. You're paying for curation, not for the actual value of the item. My boyfriend wanted to throw in all of the vendors only have about a rack and a half for men.
That being said: the designer selection is GENEROUS, and gorgeous. I've only come in 2x, but it's the immediate place I go and where I find the most value.
They have high quality designer pieces at prices that compete against many different online stores, and they clearly have them sectioned off instead of intermingled with everything else.
I would not personally purchase non-designer items here for myself, but it's obvious everyone puts in a lot of effort and care into the store.”
