“Update After Checkout:
Though I stand by my various areas for improvement, I’m updating my review from 2-stars to 4 for a few reasons:
1) our stay improved after that first day, including having the internet working flawlessly the last two days of our stay.
2) our room, and the hotel overall, were actually very nice (though the lack of attention to the various details I highlight below still were surprising for a property of this quality).
3) the front desk manager Adam went out of his way to make up for the various issues we were having and ensured our stay improved after those first 36 hours. His responsiveness to our concerns made a big difference.
Original review: This supposed 4-star property isn’t yet ready for prime time. I’m staying here now and we’ve had a terrible experience, despite staying in one of the nicest rooms available (a one bedroom suite on the top floor).
Where to begin…perhaps with the internet that has maybe worked 2 hours out of our 36 here so far. Or how about the bait-and-switch “Autumn special” that included breakfast when we booked, but failed to mention that the restaurant isn’t yet open for breakfast so what’s included is coffee and a croissant at the coffee shop off the lobby. Add that to the terrible tv interface in the rooms that claims to allow casting from your favorite streaming service but doesn’t work, no towels or cups for water in the gym, no place to get ice or fill water bottles on the floor, only one towel hook in our enormous bathroom, meaning one of us has to leave our wet towel draped over a chair in the room, etc., and you get a hotel that looks nice, but fails at so many important details that makes a good hotel stay. Oh, and the hotel is far away from the sites and action in Alexandria. Won’t be staying here again and will be asking for a refund for our special “breakfast” package so we can use that money on a real breakfast elsewhere.”
“Great location. Within a block of a metro station. Rooms are nice. Staff is friendly and helpful. They deal with problems promptly. Nice exercise room. Only downside is this is a timeshare facility. They're very insistent you attend a sales meeting. Be prepared and tell them no.”
“I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. Excellent location. Rooms and hotel were very clean. Even the free lobby coffee was excellent (most hotels use the cheap stuff)”

“This was a great hotel. It was very clean and the service was great. The guy at the front desk was so polite and very informative. The room and bathroom were clean, and very spacious. Also very quiet. The breakfast was okay. It's also very convenient to fast food, stores, and about 15 minutes to the Franconia-Springfield Metro. I would definitely stay here again.”

“I had issues with my room it was dirty and there was thermostat issues. However, the pillows were amazing and lofty and the bed was very comfortable. The laughing hyena lady working at the front desk was super annoying.”

“The rooms are very nice. I did not like that there are no ventilation fans in the bathroom. So foggy after showers. Also ridiculous that there's no complimentary breakfast at the rates you pay. The trademark restaurant was fantastic. Had the fish and chips and the burger. Delicious. The siracha salmon salad was very goodWalkability: There are stores nearby”

“My choice for my Staycation. Perfect location in regards to several tourist attractions in the Mount Vernon Virginia area. My room was comfortable and very clean. This hotel has been remodeled and it shows. It's beautiful. Hotel was peaceful and quiet. I slept soundly. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The Peloton bike was a great add on. Breakfast was hot and delicious with several choices. Great stay.”

“Hotel was nice. Service was good.
Location is right beside an above ground metro stop, and woke me up regularly all night long from the loud squeaking and noise. The hotel info doesn't mention this, but they do put foam ear plugs on your night stand, so they are aware of this issue.”

“Excellent location! One block away from King Street - you can't really go wrong if you're interested in Old Towne Alexandria. It's in pretty convenient driving distance anywhere else. The room was nice and quiet. I had an upper floor corner room with a queen bed. It was all I needed, so no big deal, but it was a little small. The bar downstairs was great. You've got to try one of the signature cocktails! The staff was friendly and accommodating for the most part. There is no on-site gym, which was a bummer for me. They do offer access to Snap Fitness on King Street - about 4 blocks away.”

“We had a large group staying here for an event in DC and the staff (especially Harry) went above and beyond to accommodate us, even with last minute time changes for meals, etc.”
“I’m giving this location 5-stars because of the late night desk manager Daya. I was in a tough spot and Daya saw my predicament and treated me with kindness and compassion. Daya must have done something super kind for me to take the time to send this review. Things may not be the Taj Mahal but the kindness of one person can make a huge difference. Thank you Daya!”

“UPDATE! Once again I stayed and Lacanas and the Operations manager provided me oustanding service. I love staying here. The location is perfect, and the service is exceptional! OUTSTANDING EXPERIENCE & AMAZING STAFF!! Huge shout out to LaCanas & Katrice! I found them to be professional, welcoming, friendly, funny, and serious about taking care of their guests. My every need was met with a smile and genuine care and concern. I stayed on more than one occasion and looked forward to checking in, knowing I was welcome each time. Fantastic Staff Mr. Oscar
the GM has. He fosters a welcoming, clean, and stress free atmosphere. Shout out to housekeeping! I'm very happy with my stay!”

“Overall nice room. Very small bathroom. Location is very close to Starbucks (hotel coffee was average). Close to Metro for easy access to central DC and sightseeing. Although there is nothing worthwhile seeing within walking distance of the hotel. Bed was comfortable and clean. Housekeeping staff did a very good job every day refreshing our room. Some components could use an upgrade: shower head was very loose and didn't work that well, bathroom sink barely drained, bathroom mirror was waterdamaged, refrigerator made lots of noise so I had to unplug it, Bathroom exhaust was poor. Hallway has a musty smell. The last night we stayed there we noticed silverfish in the bathroom.I am disappointed they started charging $20/night for parking. Apparently you can park in the Metro parking lot across the street for $8/night.4-stars is generous.Noteworthy details: Best for access to the metro for day-trips into DC.”
“I think one of the best hotels to stay is if you are nearby to Washington DC, its little bit far from DC but it is well connected with Metro, Road as well as the Ronald Regan National Airport. Of course, the price is much more affordable.”

“At less than half of what one night costs at the next cheapest option, expectations should be adjusted. There's no turn down service, shuttle to the airport or breakfast, but there is a bed. There's no jacuzzi, but there's a water heater. The room wasn't decorated by Ralph lauren, but it is furnished. The guy at the front desk may need to use Google translate to effectively communicate with you. Don't be a douchebag, look at what your options would be without this place and be agreeable.Safety: This area is full of hurt people. You'll need to disguise your privilege, and don't help anyone.”
“Exactly what you deserve! A fantastic justice for you and your whole family that one would be wise to mark on the map as a "must do" on that next road trip. Don't miss out and make the best destination a plan. Amen.”
“Great staff! Nice rooms! Maybe bring an extension cable though cause the light prongs limit the number that can be plugged in. So only one lamp can really be in a socket at a time. Amazing painting of Lincoln!!! Take photos with it!”
“We booked this hotel for a weekend getaway where we could truly relax, unwind, and enjoy some quality time together. We checked in later in the evening, and right away we were impressed by how large and beautiful the hotel was.
We parked in front of the hotel to check in and unload our luggage. I was a bit surprised to learn there was a $400 incidental hold placed on my account, as I’m more accustomed to a $100 hold. However, since we’re not wild guests, I wasn’t too concerned. Parking was $36.92 per day, and while the garage was conveniently located directly under the hotel, I do feel that hotel guests shouldn’t be charged that much. If the parking belongs to the hotel, it should be complimentary, or at least offered at a discounted guest rate. We were given drink tickets upon check-in, but we didn’t get around to using them.
Once we entered our room, I took photos and videos and was honestly shocked by the number of visible damages. I immediately called the front desk and was asked to come down and show them the photos. The staff seemed genuinely surprised and explained that housekeeping is supposed to report all damages to management. If these issues weren’t previously reported, I can’t fault management for that. Later that evening, management called our room to apologize and offered to move us to another room. We declined since we loved the corner room and had already settled in. They kindly offered a discount on our first night, which we appreciated.
The hotel is in a great location, right across the street from the train station and about 2 miles from charming Old Town Alexandria. On warmer days, it would be an easy and enjoyable walk. Since it was very cold during our stay, the hotel guests took advantage of the free trolley service, which was a nice bonus.
Breakfast was far from the typical hotel breakfast. There was something for everyone. We enjoyed freshly made omelets, toast, fresh fruit, orange juice, and coffee. The breakfast staff were very kind and friendly, and the hotel overall was very clean and well-maintained.
I did deduct one star because, considering the nightly rate, parking should be free or no more than $15 per day.
Overall, we had a great stay with comfortable night’s rest and delicious breakfast. We didn’t get a chance to try the restaurant this time, but we definitely will on our next visit. We plan on returning again soon.
Ps. This is a pet friendly hotel which was another bonus.”
