890 Burley Hollow Rd, AmherstAs someone who's worked in canine behavior and training for years, finding a place I will entrust with my dogs is no easy feat. Now that I've found Shady Mountain I may never leave Virginia. Miriam is the real deal. Besides l the numerous books she's published on dog behavior and training the facility is perfect. It's set up impeccably, has appropriately strict health screening for entry and the services on site are too notch. I left my dogs for their first stay and walked away with ease and comfort knowing they are in the best of hands. It's worth every penny and then some.

Rebec Vineyards
2229 North Amherst Highway, AmherstTypically, a tasting at a Virginia winery will yield a couple of poor tasting wines--this is NOT the case at Rebec. I celebrated my 22nd birthday here and Svet was integral to making it a fantastic afternoon. My group of three fully enjoyed all wines on the tasting, even the sweet Moscato and meads we don't typically enjoy. We took home bottles of our favorites--the Chardonnay and Afternoon Glow were my personal selections. We got to know Svet and the vineyard and will make it a point to return as often as we can.
