Our GSD mix, Stella, needed a place to board while we went on our family vacation to Wisconsin/Chicago. Stella has fear of new people but the setup of Shady Mountain Pet Retreat was perfect! Stella had her own suite with doggy doors to go outside to her own private area. Mariam was fantastic! We could not have been more happy! Thank you so much Mariam! We will see you soon!

Ankida Ridge Vineyards

One of the best winery experiences in Virginia! First the place....It is a trek to get to but, once you are there, you are well rewarded! The tasting room opens up onto a valley full of trees, hummingbirds, and other forest creatures. Each seat on the deck is placed well to enjoy nature as well as some wine. Now the wine...Best Pinots I've had in a long time and rivals many you can get in Oregon and, dare I say, Burgundy! The Chards, too! We don't like a lot of chards but these are something to try! Lastly, get an AWD (yes, you should use one to get to the top) car and enjoy the view over the vineyards at the top of the hill. Gorgeous. It has picnic benches and seats to enjoy super quiet nature...while drinking some wine! The hill is steep so careful! Lastly, the staff are fantastic and make sure your stay is fantastic as well!

Rebec Vineyards

Typically, a tasting at a Virginia winery will yield a couple of poor tasting wines--this is NOT the case at Rebec. I celebrated my 22nd birthday here and Svet was integral to making it a fantastic afternoon. My group of three fully enjoyed all wines on the tasting, even the sweet Moscato and meads we don't typically enjoy. We took home bottles of our favorites--the Chardonnay and Afternoon Glow were my personal selections. We got to know Svet and the vineyard and will make it a point to return as often as we can.
