Fur Dash LLC
203 Higginbotham Creek Rd, AmherstAbby does a wonderful job with our two shelties. She comes to our home and the girls love their spa day and the attention she gives them. Abby loves animals and you can tell, unlike many groomers who just consider it a job. We couldn't be more pleased with Abby's dedication to our girls and any concerns we might have.

Pet Care
Laurel Stone Veterinary Hospital
150 Lexington Turnpike, AmherstDr. Lee has shown professionalism and concern for our dogs whenever we have had a need for veterinary services. She helped us through having to put our 17 year old miniature schnauzer down with kindness and compassion. She takes time and thoroughness with our dogs and we are quite pleased with the services she offers.

Pet Sitting & Training
Shady Mountain Pet Retreat
890 Burley Hollow Rd, AmherstAs someone who's worked in canine behavior and training for years, finding a place I will entrust with my dogs is no easy feat. Now that I've found Shady Mountain I may never leave Virginia. Miriam is the real deal. Besides l the numerous books she's published on dog behavior and training the facility is perfect. It's set up impeccably, has appropriately strict health screening for entry and the services on site are too notch. I left my dogs for their first stay and walked away with ease and comfort knowing they are in the best of hands. It's worth every penny and then some.

Pet-Friendly Restaurants
Ankida Ridge Vineyards
1304 Franklin Creek Rd, AmherstToo bad the review scale maxes out at 5 stars -- this is a jewel of a winery perched on a mountain overlooking the Blue Ridge and Amherst County, producing a remarkable level of wine. The vineyard is a retirement project of Christine and Dennis Vrooman, who started here in 2008 and quickly shot to the top of the Virginia wine world. We have been a dozen times, and every time we go we learn about more examples of people driving up just for a tasting and leaving with a case, a wine club membership, and plans to come back soon. The pinot noir has now won numerous awards, but it's the perfectly balanced, slightly oaked, chardonnay with apple and apricot notes that I fell for. Delightful people. Well worth a trip.

Rebec Vineyards
2229 N Amherst Hwy, AmherstI like really sweet wine. They did not have a wine that I liked, but my husband liked a few. However, they did have a mead that I really liked. The lady who helped us was so nice. We enjoyed our time there and learning about what they offer.
